@BloodySorcerer no I would say it’s equal and depends on how Both magic and technology works and is used, after all how can a small diamond be more valuable than a giant crystal that acts as the heart of a star ship? Or a crystal gifted from a lost loved one, how can it be less valuable then a random diamond to the one who lost said loved one?

My favourite heroine is back for a scene and she is so sexy.
And this time she's not just "air".

@Stalkerman No, magic is superior by definition. You're bringing forth phenomenon without requiring the use of any machines or special tools. This already removes most of the limitations science would have to replicate the same phenomenom. It's not a matter of "just another tool".
Even under "Magic is same" rules, magic is still superior to science for being, and I quote: "Magic's just science that we don't understand yet." - Arthur C. Clarke
Meaning Magic is a more advanced science = "Advanced Science is indistinguishable from magic". So magic is only equal to futuristic science not to current science. This also means that Magic will always be one step ahead.
Anyway both rules of " Magic is the same" and "Magic is different" put Magic above science.

" giant crystal that acts as the heart of a star ship"
Crystals don't have this capability. Only magic would allow crystals to have it.

@BloodySorcerer Yet here we see the so called “superior magic” cause higher casualties amongst the defenders because there are no siege machines to counter the war beasts and thus the defenders decide to abandon the walls and defend them with their bodies instead. In the end saying “because magic is superior” does not justify why you shouldn’t have some form of siege equipment to counter the enemies ones.

“Crystals don’t have this capability. Only magic would allow crystals to have it”
Wrong, science fiction and it’s technobabble disagrees

That's because the writer is retarded, how can war machines cause more damage than a freaking meteor? How can an online game not have AoE spells and control effects?
You have to be raised in a cave for you to not see how magic is vastly superior to simple war machines.
How can you defend against a spell that instantly erases all the water inside one's body (Horrid Wilting, D&D)? How can you defeat a "Force Wall" that is made of literal Force with a mere trebuchet or catapult, when even bombs, guns and modern tactical weapons wouldn't leave a single scratch? There are exemples in multiple books, tales, and games on situations similar to the one in this manga in which magic is used to great effects, but the author didn't even think on using simple large scale spells that are near omni-present in fiction such as fireballs and lightning bolts.

"Wrong, science fiction and it’s technobabble disagrees"
First, this is fantasy. And second, In those stories they don't use crystal quartz which is the one I mentioned, they use fictional stones and gems that do not exist in real life.

@BloodySorcerer well a meteor spell would probably have to be shot at a closer range compared to some siege equipment, especially if it’s some big spell with a long cooldown and high mana cost, something like that would be burst damage while something like say a catapult can apply constant pressure at regular intervals and the ammunition can probably be stockpiled far more easily than a mages mana reserves, probably cheaper too. Also not sure if mana poisoning from drinking too many mana potions is a thing in this game but that could also be an issue if it is a mechanic.

How do I defend against magic that drains water from your body? Make anti magic jamming device/ magic dead zone I guess.

How do I bring down a force wall? Simple: keep bombarding it until they run out of energy before dumping a giant meteor on it or just use the barrage to suppress and distract them while I send in saboteur teams to disable/ eliminate whatever’s keeping that shield up.

There are a few books that have technology easily defeat magic out there ( don’t really remember the names) too though I do agree the author didn’t think this through or perhaps he’s trying to make the Queen look incompetent/ complete rookie here?

Edit: Oh I forgot to mention, who said siege equipment can’t fire meteors or project force walls To layer on top of castle walls themselves? Hell you could probably have crystal cannons that fires heat rays that vaporize entire armies mounted on the walls if you got the resources to do it

Oh I definitely agree, like debatably he could have ended this war on day one and just wiped out the entire gehenna cross camp. But there's no way to know if that would work properly, and they were fighting fairly well, the enemy army kept ramping things up and they were doing a good job with the fight until the previous fight and with this one they realized they don't have a good answer to this style of attack right now with no dragons that can reveal themselves as such on their own side and their dragons willing to kill each other off to force firing lines on the army......though then it becomes a question of 'why weren't they using this surperior tactic of just using the dragons as range artillery the entire time and instead using them as disposable unwieldy meat shields for their tin men hiding behind them not contributing effectively.

Regardless I don't blame his choice in the slightest either for withholding until now or the choice to use it now. I'm CERTAIN if he'd held off any longer the Fairy Queen would have done something self-sacrificing to force this through somehow and it'd be a worse option for him with now the vast majority of his fairy kingdom friends seriously injured or dead. With this he's saved them when there was no longer any good options (presumably) and if this is their last push of dragons gehenna cross will now be forced to use their frail tin men army instead. Meanwhile when the dragon gets back and tells the others about what was seen here its likely to make the dragons more officially ally against Gehenna who is now officially proven to be the ones that stole their young.

@Stalkerman do you even hear yourself? If a meteor lands there's no need for mana potions, there'll be no army left to fight against, also you talk about firing away until the wall energy ends but you forget that ammo reserves also have a limit, also no saboteurs can ever cross a force wall, it's literally a wall made of force that separates space, your saboteurs would have to be angels, demons, or gods to even have a chance of passing through.
Anti-magic jamming is only absolute in stories made by simpletons, in any reasonable setting, anti-magic is not absolute and can only applied on certain cases, because it makes 0 sense for complete magic nullification to exist, if you can interfere with the magical energies to interrupt a spell so can the mage tweak the formula to prevent that interruption.

Put this into you head, the problem with science is that it's made by simulating natural events, the need of using tools is both it's strenght and it's glaring weakness, crude machinery can be easily interrupted by the insertion of any object into it's cogs, electronic machinery will never be fully resistent to water, and a powerful electrical discharge can also destroy it because electrical resistence has a limit. Gun's have a limit in ammo, swords, axes lose their sharpness, maces are too heavy and whittle away at ones stamina faster than other weapons.
WHile on the other hand most modern stories handicap mages because they are by default way too powerful, the whole ceation of the mana system in games was made because in older stories mages were way too freaking powerful.
The cleric class and other magic classes were invented all to remove some of the power mages had, because originally magic was magic and any spellcaster could use literally any spell so long as he had the desire to learn it.
Modern mages can't even be taken seriously in many stories because they use many tropes that were made nerf mages, that actually make 0 sense whatsoever.

Examples:
"Mages can't use armor because they hinder their movements which break concentration to use spells".
Except that historical armors were made with the full intention of not hindering their wielders in combat

"Mages don't know how to fight because they dedicate themselves to their craft."
This implies that mages don't eat, don't shit, don't sleep and stay awake 24h studying magic, which is absolutely stupid because mages need physical training for their stamina, because casting spells is tiresome, meaning they could easily use combat training as their main exercise to gain that stamina, and it would even be more efficient too, as it helps them cast less spells when they don't need to.

"Spell jamming/Nullification exist"
In classical fantasy stories spell jamming and nullification happened by the use of counter-spells, which is the concept of casting spells with conflicting effects in order to naturally nullify both spells effects. Such as a lightning spell getting stopped by a stone wall, a fireball getting countered by an ice spell and so on. Nowadays they simply pull an ubiquitous magic nullification out of their asses with no explanation given and that universally works on all situations just because it can, It's just that amazing. It's pretty much the Mary Sue wet dream. And every one can use too, because humanity can instantly enter god's territory if it means nerfing spellcasters, but they still depend on primitive siege weapons, and melee weapons to wage wars, how very convenient.

Lastly, be reminded that siege weapons can't be used in all territories, magic can, Siege weapons can easily be sabotaged by an infiltrator, magic can detect infiltrators, even those who have the knowledge to sabotage modern security equipment, including infrared detectors, cameras, electric fences or sci fy laser walls. Yet infiltrators can't sabotage magic, because there's isn't just one spell to be used in detection, and only a couple can be interfered with.

Magic will always be superior to science because while science can easily replicate natural phenomena, they don't do so easily, it always require the use of complex machinery made with natural material of which anyone can sabotage with just the proper use of knowledge of it's composition or by simply stealing a machine's blueprint, magic can only be sabotaged by other mages because it usually works on rules that go against the natural order of the world, or sometimes even manipulates or simply ignores those laws completely. How could the laws of physics even hope to control that which it cannot affect?
And in case of "Magic is the same" rules, Magic is simply too advanced for the worlds current technology. They can be countered yes, but it requires a full plan involving dozens of people to counter a single mage, because in those stories magic does follow the same rules as science and so you can plan against them without having special mystical knowledge. Meanwhile if mages would in turn stand togething then those plans automatically fail, it'll become a story of army vs aliens essentially. Humanity against beings with superior technology. Except that mages all have the knowledge to easily "fix" or "repurpose" their "machines"(Magic, in this case), while soldiers have to depend on engineers and scientists to fix theirs. Meaning if a mage attacks a base and kill it's engineers and scientists, that army is doomed untill they get reinforcements.

@BloodySorcerer I’m not gonna read that giant block of text past “ nothing left when meteor lands”, no matter what you argue I will never be convinced that man is superior to machines

Oh and if a meteor lands then nothing happens to me cause I’d just have shield generators/ that siege machine that acts as a mobile bunker that projects out a shield installed on the walls and block It, simple

Edit: another idea is something like a ballista that’s set to shoot at giant objects automatically and load it with black hole tipped ammunition or teleportation ammunition that would suck away and destroy the meteor/ teleport it onto the enemy army before it hits you

@Stalkerman You good luck trying to make that with science. Scientists al over the globe are already panicking that they have little to do if an asteroid or comet lands on Earth, and you think a weak ballista made using old technologies would even scratch a meteor.

@BloodySorcerer Yes because the ballista would be enchanted to do that obviously! Why would I make it with just science? We are talking about fantasy world here 🤨

Thanks for the chapter!
Looks like Gehenna Cross is in big trouble trying to force their human supremacy on others and sacrifice the dragons just to improve morale. Uryu's head is bigger than any of the grey dragons and her body is probably tens of miles long. So is Uryu going to just destroy their army or is she going to take out the corrupt government heads who pushed for the war as well? Although I'm still wondering about a couple things. As surprising as it is that they managed to steal about 10 dragon eggs, what happened to all the other creatures they kidnapped? After all, on the board during the kidnapping stage a guy mentioned helping a wyvern regain her child and got a ride as thanks.
