I wonder if in reality, thier mother was a cultivator. The red eyes was the mark of reborn cultivators. The flowers her mother loved were her cultivation materials in this world, hence why she favored them.

The real reason my guess the mother died is due to magic not being compatible with cultivation. This is why the father made it illegal for both twins to learn magic. This is also why the father asked if she knew what the flowers actually was since she also had red eyes.

The curse is probably a broken spirit vassal, and 2 ways to fix that is either sacrificing her or probably the flowers which have spirit energy. This is why the father saved thise flowers she plucked out
