Oof the translation of this chapter really messed up the last line
It should be something along the lines of "If Shuli isn't our mother, then she'll have to leave our house!"

i knew the crown prince was shady and selfish, but i really thought he'd be at least decent and worry a little about Shuli and Jeremy (esp Jeremy) during this trial. but he really just made it about himself smh

i also knew that priest (Richelieu, was it?) was sus for not being present at the celebration. I'm still a little confused about how he would've timed it so nicely that Jeremy arrived at the exact moment after the prince fell on Shuli but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

What's disgusting is I bet the crown prince is elated she is cancelling her marriage. There's no way for Shuli to know the crown prince was giddy about the prospect of somehow white-knighting her at this trial, but regardless the idea that he thinks he can somehow win Shuli like a prize if he just does some Nice Guy bs is so frustrating. He acts like some sort of smug mastermind but he doesn't even have the power to actually manipulate the cardinal...God I hope he gets punched again in the future

The empress has severe constipation it seems. The prince is a sociopath. What a great family.

Thanks for the chapter!

@Lamer5799 Has he alienated anyone? He has to make conections in the big houses if he wants to survive, as his stepmother would very much like to see him dead and gone - that's the extent of his "cuckoo bird behaviour".
Nora's problems are between his father and him, it's not the prince's fault that Nora's jealous of his excelence.
And why would you think he doesn't care about Jeremy? This clearly wasn't orchestrated by him.

@mimikamoon that seems to make more sense. I wasn't sure if he was declaring his (awkwardly worded) intent to leave with her or if he's explaining to the twins that she would leave if she's no longer their mother

Also note that the prince's main concern is his relationship with Shuli after the result of this trial. He doesn't care about Jeremy or even the implications of whatever the fuck happens afterwards.

If that's not a telltale sign of a sociopath I dont know what is.

@Mar19 yup, it's as you've said. the church hates her because of her political argument about last christmas. church won't give money for the yearly party for the nobles because they are "giving" food to the poor. the nobles doesn't want to cut cost beacause it will show weakness among the empire. shuli proposes that her family will give money for the party with the condition that the church must provide a receipt of some kind that proves that they really did give food for the poor and that they didn't embezzled the money.

story is quite good, although it will become quite messy in the future with the prince using his power to push shuli and her family into the corner just to have her love as seen now, if he can do it now then what of in the future? with the addition of the church, specially the priest. the cancelation of her marriage, if succesful, will make the eldest kid( i forgot his name, her eldest child) have the idea of marrying her since she's not her legal mother anymore and their age is somewhat close(difference of 2 years i think, shuli being older). Man this is becoming interesting, i might drop it though because of the spiler i read, but hey, maybe i won't

@reu The problems Nora has with his dad is implied though to have been partially because of the Crown Prince passing off his own blame for things he has done in Nora's home on Nora.
