I didn't notice until now, that this story is a prequel and continuation of one of Irie-sensei one-shots in one of her early anthologies.

Edit: And the description of the series says exactly that, dumb much me.

All very mysterious. It's annoying that everyone in the story knows much more about what's going on than the audience gets to. But it's fine; I find it easy to forgive anything Irie Aki does.

Well, time to reread to get what exactly is supposedly going on. 😅
(I'm pretty fond of it, though.)

If the world of Echo Valley is a 1000 piece puzzle, then this series Irie-sensei gave us is a single piece of the puzzle (not even an edge or a corner piece).

Even though it’s beautiful, it’s impossible to understand what the piece is part of, and what the whole picture looks like. I enjoyed the art, I enjoyed the characters, but at the end of the day only have the faintest clue as to what’s going on plotwise, especially in relation to the MC.

I feel like Irie-sensei has so much of Ryder’s backstory and life planned out in her mind, but I’m a bit disappointed that she failed to convey it to us readers.

@honey It may have to do with her health problems which forced her to stop drawing for a while.
I reckon and hope she will expand this world one day
