Haha, it's ridiculous how everyone just freaks over the ending. 😂
Just read his actions, like how he squeezes her while shaking. It's clear he loves her and that expression is he steeling himself for what is to come. Certainly there will be a lot of difficult problems if he wants to be with her.

okay honestly, as shocking as that ending was and as much as i enjoyed cinnamon roll caidel i'm kinda happy with the twist ˃ᆺ˂ i feel like it adds to his character and after reading ellen's backstory and seeing her complexity as a character, now we're finally seeing caidel develop more. i'm hoping that it's not malicious or anything though, but rather an internal conflict where he's stuck between backing the earl or pursuing his love. he did look PISSED though like did you see his veins popping out of his neck😳
