Sarcasm is often lost in english text so even english firsts will have a hard time without the context
Oh boy... let's say I don't undertstand sarcasm too well, or, not at all.
Same with jokes. :(

So... this manga is, like, too hard for me, looks like it.

Ah yes, the infamously dishonest Kyoto-people. Rare to find a honest one, this might just be the happening of the century :wowee: thank jeebus it's just fiction, the universe might have imploded if a real Kyoto native actually was honest IRL
I'm assuming you are taking issue with the word "honest", and not being sarcastic about the manga overblowing the idea of a Kyoto-ite being not Kyoto-like as a weird rarity... if so:

Not "honest" in that sense. Sincere, straightforward, blunt... these would probably be a better translation. Most probably know the concept of Hon'ne (real feeling/desire) and Tatemae (public front), Kyoto stereotypically took this to eleven. When you consider the girl is decked in kimono, and probably speak the accent prominently. Someone not from Kyoto would rightly take her overtly pleasant tatemae to be hiding a particularly upset/displeased honne.

I like how the title makes it sound like people who speak with a Kyoto dialect are liars. :worry:

I am assuming that is just something lost in translation (or the author is throwing mad shade.) lol

Just saw the post with the translator note, fortunately it was the first.

Like others said, Japanese society in general demands you read between the lines because most Japanese people will try to be as polite and courteous as possible. Kyoto stereotypically takes this to the extreme so the MC thought the girls words were politely hinting at him to get lost but in fact she was actually saying what she meant.
