Is magic so abundant and used by a vast majority of people that no one needs to defend themselves from monsters of bandits? Do magic users not run out of magic power?

Edit: If it's more magic tools that are abundant then can everyone afford them, even on the fringe villages?

It's not that hard to imagine. Nobody in our world buys cold weapons as a means of protection or for fighting. They are all recreational. What's to say the fantasy world didn't develop magic to such a degree?

Yeah but calling weapons in general antiques still throws me off.

Even in our modern day real world we don't call all weapons antiques and the fact she can't seem to make a single sale keeps compounding this subtext that weapons are obsolete.

Really they shouldn't be since the old hero used weapons (even if they broke) and there is magic specifically to make weapons.

Or if she's using a magic to just smith anything in her mind in an instant, then that's an insanely powerful 3D printer magic. And if it's common/widely available that just raises more questions about the power scaling and wide use of magic. Like on the square with the performer making all the flowers bloom. There should be a magic to just freely manipulate all vegetation so no one goes hungry, right?

My issue isn't what's bothering the others. I'm thrown off by her attitude and approach to the premise.

Like, "yeah, magic lets you fly around, make food, and speed up all your work to instant results, but CHILD don't you want this KNIFE. The KNIFE is so much COOLER than the useful magic, right CHILD."
