Usazaki-sensei posted her thoughts on the cancellation.

Usazaki first expressed their sympathies for the victims, who Usazaki said "bravely spoke up about the incident despite their shock and fear." Usazaki elaborated that no one "naturally recovers" from sexual assault, and even seeing a person similar in dress and appearance to the assailant may trigger victims to respond in specific ways, and forever creates unneeded stress in their lives.

Usazaki mentioned that they do not want the act-age manga to be a work that triggers similar reactions from the victims, and so considered the cancellation of the manga to be appropriate. While Usazaki also regretted having to end the manga mid-way, they urged fans of the manga not to harass or blame the victims. They expressed clearly that the manga's cancellation is not the victims' fault, and that it is not a mistake that the victims spoke up about sexual harassment.

Usazaki added that they sympathized with fans of the manga, or those who find purpose in manga in general, as they were once also "saved" by manga. But Usazaki cautioned and pleaded against readers using that love for the wrong purpose of inciting violence, and instead urged fans to think clearly, consider various viewpoints, deny information that has no basis in fact, and always consider what should or should not be said.

Usazaki concluded with their hopes that the victims receive the proper care, and to live peaceful lives without ever having to think about the incident again.

Indeed, instead of call privately these two girls, she urge to use his public profile to write a wall of text to gain attention, shit the writer (that cause her success), teach morals, while the girls probably will never read it... she lost a chance to move on and do not drag more this situation... well whatever, expected this would happen, these people are all the same. >_>

This is, unfortunately, not unexpected.

I remember hearing Ichigo's VA Kana Ichinose received death threats because the character she was voicing in FranXX did stuff that incensed the otakus, I expect Matsuki's victims to be similarly harassed by the ignorant fucks who will only see one good manga being axed and will completely miss or ignore the fact the author dug his own grave and is entirely to blame for his own downfall.

Ah well, such is life in the 21st century. I guess a lot of social progress went in the toilet or something.

The extreme prevention that leads to the repetition of the same crimes because nothing is left to remind us of that event.

@kuma - Who blame the victims? Nobody sane is and make no sense, if she want to play sorry with the so called victims then she should do it directly on a private channel not on a pubblic board, she want just to gain attention while the victims will probably never knew about these statement. Also she is throwing shit to the writer, the one that make her a famous mangaka because without him she is just nobody, a non factor, and she is scary to back into the hole so now she try to exploit this as much as she can. Pathetic, after this wall of text i hate her more than the writer, a hypocrite like her don't deserve such attention but to be forgotten.

@Nick86 why would shiro usazaki would apologize to the victim when she done nothing to the victim? that would be even more rude. and very bad PR, implied she was involved in what matsuki doing when she is not. the message is that she accepted Shueisha decision and even support it fully. giving condolence to the victim and support them and praise their bravery for speak to defend their dignity when it's easier to just keep it silent. and for FANS to understand the decision and not blame the victim. holy hell, how the fuck you can come to that conclusion?

also she was contracted by editor, not like she begging job to matsuki. why would she obliged to be on matsuki side? wtf dude. what's wrong with you?

@kuma - Me? You can support her ass as much as you want, but for me she is just an attention whore trying to exploit this situation for personal gain because she is a non factor and a mediocre artist. I hate such fake and double face people, i had nothing against her before, but after this wall of text is clear that she is just a damn hypocrite.

@Nick86 SHE TELL FANS TO UNDERSTOOD THE SITUATION AND NOT TO BLAME THE VICTIM. as simple as that. this probably encouraged by shueisha as offical replay come right after. bokuben author has to retract statement which MUCH MORE HARSH to matsuki and much more blatant support to usazaki. she has been remain silent whole time. this is common practice in japan when one of your acquaintance messed up. again, you are one who speak out of you ass here. i bet you don't even read the series and see her art. you are just here attention seeking trying defend a child molester.

@kuma - Uh? Are you for real? Nobody sane is blaming the victims, make no sense, she is just an hypocrite because she want attention and nothing else, she do not care about these two girls at all, she exploit this situation because she is a mediocre non factor artist without a real writer.
And i'm not defending the writer, where you got this? The law exist and will judge him, i simply do not give a shit because what a person do in their personal life is not my business, i judge artists based on how good their works are and nothing else.

holy shit, soo many ignorance in this comment, i can't even.. let's break it down..
@Nick86
>Uh? Are you for real? Nobody sane is blaming the victims, make no sense

Welcome to japan, first time? literally one of most recent case is detailed by pihip post above. i can name you much more case about that. like that haruhi suzumiya VA (leaked private video case), NGT 48 bullying and stalker case (one of member got fired because reporting her bullying and stalker to police), etc.

>She is just an hypocrite because she want attention and nothing else,

public statement/apology is very common thing to do in japan. Shueisha release same kind of statement a week ago. it is already formality. BUT usazaki doing more showing more than apology which condolence to the victim and asking fans understanding, which when you read his tweet, lot of support give. she already doing more than basic social obligation she asked for.

>she exploit this situation because she is a mediocre non factor artist without a real writer.

but that's exactly what she contracted job for. she is not the one started act age project. it's Shueisha editor who interested in Matsuki proposal approaching Shiro Usazaki to be Matsuki artist after looking at her works (she is youngest serialization debut ever in Weekly Shounen Jump at 19 years old). what do you ask her for? breaching the contract and just to prove she can do her own thing? bruh, have you ever once get job contract in your life?

>And i'm not defending the writer, where you got this? The law exist and will judge him, i simply do not give a shit because what a person do in their personal life is not my business, i judge artists based on how good their works are and nothing else.

maybe if you live in jungle alone, but you live in society. and society WILL judge you for what you were doing. No sane being would do social suicide by keep financially supporting child molester. That would be Public Relation disaster. same applied to anyone who work for act age, be it shiro usazaki, or shueisha, or every company that has work related to act age. any work now or future that might give financial profit to author is stopped. and if he ever back and want to revive act-age, good luck in the future find another company/people who willing to take the risk.

>This is my opinion and i have the rights to write how i feel like everyone else.
just because it's your rights, doesn't mean it any less idiot, ignorant, and asshole opinion. you are slandering other people then hide behind "it's my right". you are the lowest of the lowest keyboard warrior who can only hide behind your rights while never think responsibility of your own action.

@kuma - Apology for what? She is not to blame, she should have just move on and stop this crap. You do not live in Japan either and you aren't not a judge, you know nothing about their society, only a biased opinion from foreigners, so i criticize her based on what she wrote and i found this very distatefull and hypocrite, there is nothing to add or be surprised, is a personal opinion. Sueisha is a business company, they do not care about victims but only the image and money, they already fired him, so there is nothing more to add.
Lastly i don't get what you want from me, i do not quote your opinion, i do not care what you think or if you lick her ass, is futile, but if she is an attention whore and a hypocrite i said so and my opinion do not change just because you make a wall of text that i barely read.

I judge her based on what she wrote and i found this very distatefull and hypocrite, there is nothing to add or be surprised, she just exploit this to take an advantage, there is nothing wrong but she should be ready to be criticized too.

call it hypocrite or whatever, THAT'S WHAT JAPAN PEOPLE DOING. EVERYONE. not just shiro usazaki. if it's hypocrite, then the whole japanese apology tradition is hypocrite, which is not shiro usazaki alone to blame.

Lastly i found your opinion ignorant, because you have no respect of different opinions, you can lik her ass as much as you want, i do not care but if the is an attention whore i said so.
your freedom of opinion doesn't mean you can slander anyone without basis only based on half assed assumption. you didn't even respect other people by slandering, why would you expect to get respect yourself? if you want to be respected, maybe earn one to begin with.

I do not blame Usazaki for this matter since she is not involved, i just blame her because she shit the author and exploit this to take an advantage since she is nothing without a writer, she should have just shut up and do not back to this, but she decide to do so and lecture people so i have the right to criticize her stupid and hypocrite behavior.

Also i don't get why you are so up in arms, is a futile debate, but If you have issue with what i think you can also use the block function.

Damn, i didn’t even realized it was cancelled until i reached the last chapter. I’m dumb. It was good while it lasted, but now its time to find something new. This had potential but the author had to go and mess it up. Hope the artist can bounce back from this.
