I was initially kind of let down by how this was handled, but after sitting on it for a bit and reading back to some previous chapters I think this tracks with her personality and this was probably the best outcome they could have had in this situation. It wasn't that long ago that she behaved as though she was indifferent to adachi, or at times outright hostile, i.e. adachi's breakdown over the phone and shimamura calling her a pain, which I think would have been the end of most relationships.
Still, "Thanks, I appreciate it." is a hilarious response to a confession.

Well, that was...a let down? Idk, I didn’t expect Shimamura to react any differently, but part of me wishes she had rejected Adachi. It would have given Adachi a chance to grow as a person, become less dependent—or maybe even less obsessed—with Shimamura. In that time, Shimamura could have come to realize her own feelings. Idk, I’m just rambling lol. I just hope their relationship doesn’t stay this... underwhelming.

People are saying Shimamura is being half-ass, haven’t been reading properly. Like she literally seriously considered what the implications of dating Adachi would be, she values her feelings enough to not do something that would hurt her. She mentions love is something that can‘t be logically measured, and I agree. Realistically, when we start liking someone and transition into dating them, it’s also a learning experience. Not everything will be set in stone at the beginning of a relationship. What matters is that you properly value the other person and proceed to act with that in mind and things will work out, if its mutual. Shimamura has been making an effort to properly face her relationships empathically and Adachi is her route to that.
Btw Adachi is such a fucking mess, I love her lol.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

It's finally here! Adachi confessing to Shimamura after being such a gay panic girl for so long! Shimamura taking time to consider her confession, and give her own "Shimamura-like" serious answer was just too good! Shimamura is finally taking the first real step into accepting Adachi and I can only see more adorable yuri moments from now on!

I read the novel, but stopped around this point. But god i really love these awkward gay adolescent girl disasters so much.

HERE IT IS! The moment the series changes forever. BTW, this was the ending of Vol. 6 of the LN. The author originally planned to end it at Vol. 12, but recently announced it will go further. What's interesting to me is that, even in the original plan, half of the series would feature those two actually dating. What was that about Yuri works always ending when the main characters get together?

As for how much the manga is going to cover, I know it's hard for a manga to cover the LN until the end, but I wish we at least finished adapting Vol. 8 before ending this manga. I really like the ending of that volume, and I think it could work as THE ending for an adaptation. But if we can go even further, that's great too.
Wait the LN's going further?!?!? YES. That brings me joy

Sociopath? Lol. Read this maybe it’ll elucidate you about the characters.
To answer your LN question Shima does fall in love with Adachi, she even says so. In death, Shima chose to stay with Adachi in the afterlife over Gon and her grandparents if that tells you anything.

I only read the main story lines, can you let me know what side story in your spoiler? I'd like to read that.

I assume you mean the second half of the spoiler considering you read the main story line. It's in the final chapter of 99.9 found on the site above.
Warning: the chapter is a roller-coaster of emotions

And just like that...
after the long wait,
It finally happens.
The scene I've been waiting for since I read vol 6 of the LN.
Thank you for the chapter.

I could've sworn Shimamura in the books felt even colder and more callous than that … or maybe that was just the image I was getting when reading the scene the first time. Then again, her being devoid of empathy was definitely on-brand, and I like that this adaptation kept how cool and introspective the series is rather than making it all fluffy like the previous manga adaptation. The Shimamura that Adachi fell for in the novels is this psychopath and it felt weird seeing her with shoujo-esque effects.

Hey dude... you fucked up your link (the "Read this" link).
Hope Urasekai Picnic has the same mindset in adaptation.
Urasekai Picnic will be exactly like the LN. After all, they're literally putting everything from the LN IN the manga. It's one of the best adaptations of a LN that I've ever seen.

Hnnnnnggggg now skip to the part where they kiss this slow burn killing me 😩😩😩
Unfortunately there is no part like that, in the entire story they never kiss once. The only thing that happens is Shimamura remembers their first kiss one time way later in the story and that's it.
