Adachi is such a psychopath, it's great. I always love the moments where you're reminded that the reason the two of them work so well is that their incredibly toxic sides mutually complement each other.

Is that.... what psychopath means..... I think she's just a bit autistic, or maybe it's just cause she wasn't really raised responsibly. Probably both.

Yeah but that's the whole issue. Shimamura already feels weighed down by Adachi. Her whole worry is that she'll prioritize Adachi at the expense of everything else in her life.

The pros outweigh the cons. Just because she has some parts of Adachi she's not a fan of doesn't mean she's not happy and won't continue to be happy. That's just life and things evolve over time.

Well, I didn't say over everything else in life. I was more so referring to this situation specifically and how no matter what happens the worst case scenario is Shima going back to on and off with this girl. I seriously doubt that Shimamura of all people would let her relationship with Adachi literally ruin her life. Adachi also would try to stop that.

my favourite thing about shimamura is the way she describes herself/thinks she's lazy, not kind and heartless but in truth she's actually so kind and thoughtful, thinking about the way others might feel, really trying to make things work, the way she has changed so much from the start of the series, she's purposely keeping others at arms lengh and keep saying she doesn't care as much but she does but is afraid of losing people important to her, the way it was shown in her dream chapter, her childhood friend tarumi she has lost in the past, the dog gon and the whole grandparents trip house, she's closing herself off from others to avoid getting hurt because she believies nothing lasts forever and the thought of losing someone hurts her so much, so she doesn't let anyone too close a getting attached and getting hurt in the process, as she said herself "i'd chosen to let go of everything and close my heart to those around me. I wouldn't be able to hurt anybody and they wouldn't be able to hurt me."
She's surpressing her own emotions, that only while she's dreaming she allows herself to cry, "I don't want to see them disappear, I don't want to leave them.". The funniest thing is that so many people in here had completly fell for that fecade of hers, i keep seeing comments describing her as "sociopath/psychopath, apathetic, that she doesn't care for adachi at all and adachi just just give it up because shimamura couldn't care less" and yet since the start shimamura trough her actions kept showing that she cares for adachi that adachi is different to her,

• when adachi didn't show up to school she went out of her way to visit her to her house
• she stood up for adachi to adachi's mother at the gym
• she kept giving adachi affection time and time again when she has asked for it
• went out if her way to buy a present on christmas for adachi even though they didn't say anything about buying each other gifts
• she wrote a message for adachi on valentines day and suprised her "let's keep being close"
• when adachi mentioned about wanting to match with her, she went shopping and bought them matching hairpins
• when adachi started showing up to class at the start of the second year she thought about her constantly
• whenever she's hanging out with tarumi she thinks about adachi
• hell you won't sleep while cuddliing with someone you don't like at least a little
• after their "big fight" aboit shimamura going to the festival with tarumi, she apologized and kept thinking if she could habe handled it differently at the time,
• when she's at jer grandparents house she also keeps thinking about adachi
• after she came back the first thing she did was call adachi with a big smile on her face
• "to me watching her overcome her struggles outshine any firework display"
• she wore a yukata to the festival because she thought it would make adachi happy
• the way she took adachi's confession and took her feelings seriously, thinking about it carefully was so beautiful
• after entering their relationship she keeps ressuring adachi, trying to make it all work, she's so kind and patient, most people would just not bother with handling adachi, truly this girl has a patience of a saint lmao

what's so beautiful is shimamura closed herself on the world to not lose anyone, because if you don't have anyone, there's no one to lose, but she found someone who wants to be with her forever, she's isn't alone anyone, adachi has menaged to claw her way to her heart, even if shimamura's not 100% aware of it and keeps second guessing herself, she found someone who will stay with her, someone who will not leave, i'm sure she will work it out, they both will, i love this series so much i love such complex, deep, beautifully written characters like shimamura who give you a lot to think about, who's character you slowly get to know, how you don't have everything served on a silver plate and have analise both her thoughts and actions, i can't wait so see more of it
