Adding more Tags (Story Settings etc.)

Adding many of the tags, currently on "Novelupdates" would be nice.

Especially story settings are missing on this site. ("Modern Day", "Futuristic Setting", "Protagonist Strong from the Start", and the like.)

A few tags are eventually going to be added. But I believe its been said by the mods that if you want comprehensive tagging go to bakaupdates.

I'm just waiting for the inevitable (ill-advised subjective) suggestions of "terrible art" and "terrible plot" tags,
since M-U literally has a tag for 'Bad Art' https://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?category=Bad Art, why not MangaDex?

Oh god its like they never have sufficient tags they always gotta have more. I swear we could have a full catalogue of tags and there would be someone complaining saying

No from me we have sufficient tags rn if anything i'd be up for removing some of them.

I don't know about Novelupdates' system, but it would be very useful to have a user-voted tag system like Baka-Updates. I don't understand why that site has to be viewed with such prestige that there can't be alternatives. That we would have to go to another site exclusively for this purpose is a pretty aged-concept by now.

I mean, why don't we just all read our series on Kissmanga?
That was there well before this site and has a more thorough selection so what's really the point of Mangadex anyway /s

However, as blackyawgdom said, the developers here have answered the suggestion of thorough-tagging with a 'just go to baka-updates' response.

Tags like the setting of the world or similars can be good. Not really necesary though, in my opinion. I think adding to many tags removes the mistery of reading a manga and discover the world and the plots for yourself.

Idk if the issue still stands but I vaguely remember some mod saying something like the more tags (and ergo ability to block) there are the harder it is on the systems or something. I know nothing about computers tho so I probs didnt fully understand it.

I really want a few tags to be added, namely polygamy and harem-seeking lead. I have zero problems with harem/reverse harem manga e.g. "Yona of the Dawn," but I 9.9/10 hate polygamy type mangas'. I end up searching on NovelUpdates whenever possible, however, there have been a few cases where the manga detracted from the original storyline, thus, was no longer polygamous. BakaUpdates is usually good, but sometimes, it simply has no data whatsoever or just has the bare minimum tags, which I then have to compare to other sites just to find out if the work is polygamous or not.

Again, I personally think that Harem is simply too generic especially with Chinese Manhuas which I do like to read now and again.
