Firstly, what in fuck is happening in those first comments? 🤣
They probably forgot that this chapter is a backstory.
The author probably think it was sure a good idea to put the Umi x Riku backstory before the "truth" but he didn't expect the impatience of the readers for knowing the why she dated Takt a while ago.

Secondly, let's give a welcome to that new reader who have wasted like 1 or 2 days just to catch up with 52 chapter of non-stopping dumpster fire. 👏👏
I will give him an advice: "good luck🙃!"

Lastly, i think most of them would agree that Umi-chan has probably a mental illness to have that kind of logic running in her head. It is KIND OF understandable although I thought she could solved it a more rational way but meh...

I just keep feeling bad for MC - as far as we know, he hasn't done anything (wrong or right), yet he is continuously getting dragged into all kinds of drama by other people. They all say that they care about him, yet somehow no one is acting like they do.

Except Yako. Yako is the only sane person and I would love it if she stayed that way and won in the end. Futile as it is.

Mc ain't innocent either fam. Even if he's being dragged along, he's also complicit in cucking his best friend by playing off and on with Takt's girl.

I can't wait for this series to inevitably jump the shark and reveal that Takt was secretly a shounen battle manga protagonist in the vein of Campione-lite and he's been having to "date" all of Riku's love interests to prevent them being taken and mind-controlled by a mysterious evil third-party out to conquer all of the questionably legal women in Japan.

And that Takt was also secretly a woman all along and sabotaging all of the other candidates for the RikuBowl so that she would be the only logical choice at the end. Everything had been going according to plan until The Yako appeared.

So, what kind of logic did she use to get the conclusion that dating Takt would somehow make her part of Riku's family? If she wanted to use Takt to get close to him, she's already perfectly capable of doing so all by herself. She just needs to be assertive and force her way in. The author loves to stall the story by giving more mysteries in every released chapter. I wonder if he does have any plans for the conclusion. We still haven't solved the question as to why the female childhood friend (who?) is dating Takt instead of the MC.

Because they're like brothers, apparently.

That's not really a good justification since it's still read the same way whether it's in katakana or hiragana.

It's honestly a baffling translation decision since you literally can't read "takt"

His name is and always has been Takuto.

I could be wrong but I think the translator messed up initially and then stuck with it as a riff on Takt op. Destiny.
