I never know what's happening but I can't stop reading.

I'm really wondering why Minase doesn't just leave Takt.

blackmail maybe? Author seems dead set on making him conveniently evil so MC's cheating seems justified.

Whats so weird is Takt is clearly only dating people cause they like Riku (Even if non-romantically) so he's a badman, You have MInase who got into a relationship with Takt even though it's Riku she wanted but now she's ursuing what she wants and its clearly recipricle but won't leave Takt for some reason? so that makes her a badman. Then we have Riku who resisted Minase for a long while but is clearly failing now (I dont think many teens could hold out even as long as he did tbh) so he's a badman.
And finally we have Umimi who seems to be an unfortunant victim in all this until she starts to go the clear blackmail route for sure so she's also a badman. There is no even moderate characters in this and is kinda fascinating as a result.

Takt probably has a massive inferiority complex against Riku. “Don’t tell this to Riku” MF is so petty that he thinks that hooking up with his Kohai and childhood friend to knock him down a peg that didn’t even work. Like dude he didn’t even notice or care about the relationship until she made the first move. That’s probably why Taku hookup with her in the first place, he only wanted his “friend” to notice him and watch him be the third wheel. We’ll probably get a chapter about how Takt always felt small compared to him but idc about this man at all.

However if it's to hurt Riku why did he want Inami to not tell him at all about their relationship? If anything he'd actually want Riku to know he "has his girl". To me it seems hes doing it for himself, to prove to himself he's as good as him by trying to have them like him more as validation.

Yeah the author seems to be afraid of making the protags come out as the bad guys in this afair, so he is setting up Takt as being some psycho as an easy out to make the protag seem like he is "saving" the FMC from him.

It's not REALLY tackling the theme of cheating that well if they set up the cheated one as a convenient mustache twirling villain.

Yeah the author seems to be afraid of making the protags come out as the bad guys in this afair, so he is setting up Takt as being some psycho as an easy out to make the protag seem like he is "saving" the FMC from him.

It's not REALLY tackling the theme of cheating that well if they set up the cheated one as a convenient mustache twirling villain.

Your last part can actually work well if the overall writing was better. Problem is it's not so it comes off like a teenager in their angst phase wrote it.

Not that weird. She and Riku has been senior and junior. They probably feel comfortable enough with that relationship, and there's also factor of becoming too familiar they don't think about romance (like the usual childhood friend trope).

Before Mimi gets to the phase where she wants to take the next step closer to Riku, she starts to have interest in Takuto, thanks to Riku's stories about him (this is how the typical "tell her good things about me" trope is supposed to go, although it usually don't work because all heroine must love the MC). So, the target of that "next step" relationship, she find in another man.

So really this is an odd series.

We have Riku who while now starting to fail is trying to stay to the bro code. Considers Takt his bestie. The least of the badman of this series.

We have Takt who has a insanely bad inferiority complex to Riku and has dated Umimi clearly due to the inferiority complex. He also seems to have done something unforgivable at the cafe. While he seems to genuinley want to date Minase I feel like alot of it still ties to his inferiority complex cause it seems like he knows she'd rather be with Riku (It's why I suspect the cafe thing will be he crossed a line probably sexually). I'd argue the worst of the badman of the series.

We have Minase who's dating Takt (For some reason still) but really wants to date Riku and suddenly after 1yr of dating Takt is now trying to entice Riku. All the events of this manga seem to revolve around said Cafe incident that happened early on. For some reason hasn't left Takt for Riku even though Riku seems to be recipricle to the whole thing if she wasn't dating his best friend. The 2nd worst badman of the series.

We have Umimi who previously dated Takt and still has feelings for him, was dumped cause Takt wanted Minase so Umimi has now "become" minase (Her panels sometimes I forget its supposed to be Umimi). Is very overly bodily contact with Riku and is probably the reason why Takt dated her, along with the fact Riku always taked about him to her. Was not a badman until this chapter, now looks like she'll go the blackmail route which is a nono specially as even if Takt leaves Minase he's not gonna get together with her again.

We really need to know what happened in the cafe, it seems pivitol to the goings on in this series. I can only imagine this is a shorter series though as I can't see how this would be dragged out for say 8 volumes. I'm also really hoping we don't add anymore "childhood" friends its already kinda rediculous with the 4 we have now.

If she go to Riku as soon as she broke up with Takuto, Riku would have put himself as the reason. Moreover, it would break his relationship with Takuto (can you keep hang around with the backstabber who ntr'd your girlfriend?). With this in mind, there's low chance of success for her, Riku would just push her back, or worse, walks away from their life to protect their happiness rather than becoming a homewrecker.

Riku looks like the romcom protagonist who doesn't want to be the "bad guy", who would rather someone else to be guilty as long as it's not himself, and keep running away from making decision. Takuto had took his decision (and the risks) when he decided to "steal" the girls who like Riku. And Shizuku took hers when she decided to start this affair.

It's either Riku finally took a bold step, accepting that someone will be hurt in the process; or he and Takuto opens up about why Takuto is dating Mimi and Shizuku, and reach their conclusion on where they should bring their relationship.

Although 2 things to remember:

1. Minase and Rikus actions are gonna come out eventually so at least better to be honest about it. (Not like Takt didnt date someone fraudulently).

2. While Riku doesn't know but it really seems Takt has no love/friendship with Riku at all and only obsessively feels inferior. It wouldn't take much for Riku to really do anything that would end the friendship. Heck I suspect if Riku got a GF Takt would try to NTR her whomever she was.

I'd go with that but remember, Minase said "I wish I had done this sooner" so no clearly she was into Riku before she dated Takt although the Cafe incident (That we dont know anything about yet but seems to be the trigger for the whole series) seems to have as you said set Minase off onto her persuing Riku. It's why I hope we learn if only a little about said Cafe incident.

The way it's been insinuated a few chapters before this, Takt is probably a bastard isn't he? Either he's yandere for MC or he has an inferiority complex/jealous of him

That makes me think. What if, the bigger twist was that Takt was also interested in the MC too!
