Dang y’all are dumb af lmao. She obviously told him she was on her period and she only said that she wouldn’t mind having sex after so she could get out of the situation. This is obvious by her reaction right after being completely freaked out and when she was in bed with Riku being completely serious instead of playful like Riku said.

She's either dying or pregnant. Also he should just fucking do it at this point.
idk why so many people are assuming she is dying. It makes literally no sense, she told him she would be ok with it after something. And obviously she isn't telling him he can fuck her corpse. The pregnancy theory makes the most sense of all of the comments written here.

But let's be real, the author will come up with some stupid nonsensical reason that no sane person will expect.

I wonder what Shizuku said to the manager to make him back away like that. As always, thank you for translating, Radeon. And uncensored chapters from 29 - 37? YEAHHHH! Next chapter: 隣で寝てるのに - The you that is sleeping next to me (多分かな。日本語苦手です。)

This gets so retarded that idea explaining this shit-show needs to be equally as stupid.

Thus my idea is that she basically told him that she is going to have a sex change operation. Could explain the secret "soon need to move" or something, would fit her BF Takt being 100% gay, would work fine with her being a virgin and her hell-bend mission to get MC into her pants is that she wants to lose her "female" v-card to him, before Takt makes her a dude.

If she lied that she is basically a trans, a guy in female body, etc then maybe it could actually piss off the rapist dude away too? Alternatively she told him she has a dick and soon to operation to remove it and make her a full girl, but something tells me rapist-san would just touch her crotch to verify?

Or some kinda lie about STD/what ever could make the dude lose interest, but like 99.9% of those wouldn't matter if dude just uses condoms. Maybe if he is cream-pie fetishist it could work?

Frankly speaking anything author could cook up doesn't really make sense. Cause I don't believe her being preggo, having "once per month" days would actually matter to a rapist dude. Most "push rapist away" ideas in porn just make them more eager, heck - even soon-to-be-raped person telling they are a guy/shemale/etc wouldn't and in porn they would just "yaoi" in-the-ass.

I just noticed that the Sunday Webry app has comments. Here are the top 3 comments from the Japanese public:

Thanks for the chapter!

Lazy mystery box author getting rightfully called out for it.

Based japanese viewers are based.
The problem with these comments is that they don't represent the buying fanbase, they represent online-readers who hate-read.

Volume 4 came out last week, and ranked on Oricon with 10k in said week (And this is missing digital copies). It has been reviewed as equally as the others, and the manga recently crossed the mark of 200k copies in circulation for the first three volumes, which is a very healthy number for a manga of this nature and genre.

So ultimately, people complain online, but the buying fanbase stays as neutral as ever supporting the manga.

I've said it before, but the only way this mangaka changes his formula is that he either gets bored of his own story or people vote with their wallets, and people aren't doing the second thing.

So…this whole series is a train wreck.

What if she is from an extremely powerful family? Like family member is some sort of politician or CEO or Yakuza or whatever? When she graduates she will be taken away from her normal life for whatever the family needs her for so she will never see Riku again after that. We don’t know because most of this is told from Riku’s perspective and what if he doesn’t know of that side of her family? I would doubt that if she told him she was dying he would back off AND say that he wouldn’t touch Umimi. He would most likely view it as even more of an opportunity since he would see it as even more so no strings attached.

I think the author really needs to give at least some answers soon because this is getting ridiculous and all the secrecy is just infuriating.

I thought she came out and said to Riku that she hasn’t done anything like that before because she wanted him to be the first? To be fair, it’s been awhile since I don’t remember much about this crazy series anymore.

I know I'm dropping this.
Nothing to do with the scanlator, 100% has to do with the story. This mysterious shit is fucking boring. You can't drag out a hook this long without giving something back.

I understand your point, but these comments are from people who paid to read the chapter.

The comments were made on 2024/06/07. As you can see, on that date, chapter 40 was released for free, while chapter 41 was available only for paid access. When a chapter is released for free reading, the next one becomes available for paid access. As you can see, chapter 42 is now available for paid access.

You're right, I didn't notice that, but isn't that even worse?

Apart from this having more impact on the platform than the manga itself—since contracts vary widely between publishers and are notoriously unfair (I know of a certain small mangaka who has a 90/10 split with a particular publisher)—it's well-known that most manga still rely heavily on volume sales to survive, and thrive.

If there's no significant financial impact, there won't be any change. As long as readers continue to pay to read the manga online and its overall popularity and volume sales remain strong, the mangaka won't have much incentive to change their approach. (Or he/his editor gets tired enough of said formula, which granted, is a real possibility)

The problem is, at the end of the day, that this manga, and its current formula, is being such a success that even an English version is on the way.

Not counting, too, that a good bulk of views and comment stats, do come from free readers regardless, just compare the stats on your own picture between chapters and their own timeframe, so, while the comment could have been made by a paying reader, a good chunk of upvotes might've come from free readers, and so on. (Which could be easy to find out if you pay for the chapter and make a comparison pre-free > free, but ain't nobody got time for that)

She’s pregnant, Takt is the father, but she doesn’t like Takt and likes Riku, so she’s trying to get him to sleep with her before her pregnancy is obvious so she can claim Riku is the father.

That’s the worst writing I could think of, so it’s probably 100% accurate.
