ok don't like it already. He was conscious + only his clothes were retrieved? Seems like a hint toward his survival. And characters like him (too perfect, strong, care for others) when brought back to life are usually twisted into some horrible villain/antagonist...

Naraku in Inuyasha had his body burned so bad he was permanently paralyzed, but then after some plot fuckery, he became the biggest threat in the series.

Obito from Naruto was crushed under a boulder, which should have killed him, but after some other plot fuckery, he lived and then waged war against the world.

so yeah, unless we see actual proof of death, nothing is for sure.
