I find it fascinating that Hiro in this chapter was noticeably showing their "Same Face-ness" in their art on pages 18, 21, 26, 32, & 34 where Erika there basically looks like Komichi's blond identical twin sister. Though I suppose there's supposed to be thematic symbolism & relevance in how Erika is rendered there on those pages.

To be fair, their progression has been pretty normal for their ages. It does help that their environment is really isolated and Komichi already knows someone who was in love with another girl.

Erika's line is definitively framed suggestively, but I feel it is more for the audience's benefit than anything else. These two dorks have been agonizing about literally everything on their relationship, it would make no sense for them to skip any stage without being dramatic (like teenagers are wont to do) about it.

That build up after Erika saw Akebi's face, and then that line delivery with that perfect Erika's face as I scrolled down and saw the second dialogue bubble of what she said, I audibly gasped.

And then the pan up shot to the starry sky.

I never have said stuff like this before, but the author seriously cooked here. There was A LOT of care put into the ending of this chapter.

I know this is as a joke but it only just now struck me how serious this series is about being gay.

Reminder these girls are in junior high, not high school: I'd honestly be surprised if there's any remote hint of sex ever (and I do hope it doesn't go that way). A kiss sounds plausible, but anything beyond that is just not happening, were this reality.

Junior high is when girls start sucking their boyfriends' dicks and lose their virginity. It can happen as early as 12, when puberty starts to kick in. Yes, this applies to Japan too (saw a girl admitting to that in one of the street interview videos on Youtube).

Also, one of the girls in their class already had a boyfriend before.

I doubt they'd do anything beyond talking and hugging, though. Akebi and Kizaki are the late bloomers of the class.
