I see that a few perverts people keep focusing on the "sexual" part in the comment sections and can't even appreciate the story and the art of this piece since they keep on just trash talking this manga. If you do more "research" there are a lot more mangas categorized as safe in this website that have done worse fanservice than what you hypocrites have been bitching around about since the first chapter. So, please just kindly remove yourself from the comment sections of this manga, thank you.
Easy to you to grandstand after years of chapters and throw under the bus anyone who at the time of the discussion had their suspicions after seeing very few chapters and characters of this manga being traced over gravure models, plus the second or third chapter of this manga delving into a little of foot fetish, and also the author's previous work being ecchi manga and hentai. Sorry for not having the divination powers to foresee this wasn't going that route, how bad of us for believing the author was going to tread in his already stablished road at the time.

It may be pointless to reply to a four-year-old post, but I thought this was insightful (the whole thing, though I only quoted part of it).

While Akebi-chan no Sailor Fuku seems to concern the lives of female middle schoolers, I doubt mangaka Hiro worries too much about the authenticity of his characterizations. I say that because, so far as I can tell, this series is a vehicle for sexualized images of young girls.

It's a mainstream commercial product created by a male artist for consumption by male lolicons. Given that context, it makes sense that Hiro would veer away from realistic representation toward an idealized male fantasy of girlhood. To the extent that the audience could even tell the difference, I suspect they'd tend to prefer the latter.

Of course, this means that Akebi-chan will hit very differently for readers outside the target demographic. Personally, I found what I read of it rather dull. 100% agree about the skirts tho ;)
After rereading I think there is more to it, specially if you are into slice of life. It's a nice little story and there are some cute teen drama moments. Everything is very soap opera anime minna ganbatte style, that's the charm of stories like this. But yeah, we all know what the hook behind the slice of life is when you see certain things about the manga and those things happen very early. Why the fuck no one raises a brow when in the first chapters there is very obvious foot fetish depictions of a teen girl and think it's a very normal thing with nothing else going on?

The voyeuristic vibe over the entire thing is real, most cute girl doing cute things mangas avoid this kind of stuff but here is made into the presentation almost too much. The first chapters have stuff borderline putting you on a list sus. And I cannot get over making the anatomy and movement into a uncanny valley zone that compounds over the sus stuff. Props for the artistry, it's amazing art, but I still cannot trust this guy.
