What fascinates me most about Celestine is that everything she does shows she is very much a villain, but carries herself in such a manner that even the audience might forget that fact at times.

Celestine is very supportive of Clara, encouraging her to step out of her comfort zone and showcase her talents to others and especially to Clara herself. However, Celestine doesn't do this (just) because they are friends, but because she could become another asset to Celestine and it makes Clara a more 'interesting person'.
You can't convince me for a second Celestine is not aware of Clara's affection for her. She knows and doesn't hesitate for a moment to use it to keep Clara close and in her care.

Same goes for Julia. Celestine humors the girl's behavior because Celestine expects Julia to be a competent schemer, someone she could use later to her advantage. And boy is she disappointed when it turns out Julia is nothing more than a jealous brat.

Celestine is not evil per se. She nurtures those around her that she deems worthy with care and attention. But she definitely is a villainess, and I love her for it. ♥

I could even add, the OG Celestine remembering last arc, she wasn't an actual villainess, she was a victim of circumstances and she acted like a kid throwing a tantrum when she didn't get the love she was searching for, problem is and this is kind of the funny part, the lady that got on her body prolly wasn't a villainess too, but for sure she was a sociopath hahaha, the PM was just on her preferred type and she learned the unfairness of the world and acted accordingly to protect him and not let her be consumed by the noble society, and she evolved when she became a mother to go further and protect his husband and every person she cares and play at a higher stage, remember how she manipulated Celestine's OG fiancee to turn into a tool for her and love the queen of the other land.

also with Clara for sure she knows, how she touches is totally to lead her on, but keeps a certain line not making her think she has an actual chance, but to know she cares deeply for her, which sounds great hahaha, but it also doesn't hahaha.
