Yeah, it sounds like mind-control to me too. However, would it make sense to do mind-control immediately after an amnesia arc? They feel too similar to be so close to each other.

Considering how it was stated that many of these women had children/families, I wonder if their families are being threatened and many of them are using "love" to make their partners hate them rather than worry? Or maybe that's too deep LMAO

I think a mind control arc could work if it does NOT work on Celeste, like maybe they had been doing some research in magic after the amnesia incident, and she is carrying a protective amulet or sigil with her. My prediction is that the king meets Celeste during a party (or knows her already) and wants to make her join his harem, kidnaps her and tries to brainwash her, it doesn't work for the reasons previously mentioned, but she acts as if she was while waiting for her husband to rescue her, all the while gathering information to expose the king and break out the spell he has on other women. It all climax in a party in their nation, to which the prime minister husband was invited. The king thinks he has Celeste under his spell and wants to rub it against the PM, but he ends up being exposed and arrested. And as it is becoming tradition on this manga, he would manage to escape (the PM would have allowed it), only to find his demise then. For a change of pace, I think I would like Celeste to be the one who imposes his punishment, like, she baits him to follow her into an alleyway, but she gets on the other side of a fence's door, locking it behind her, while a mob of the husbands who got cucked appear from the entrance of the alleyway.

Y'know, knowing that the prime minister is calculating and not everything is as it seems. I believe that the reason the new king was elected was partly his doing just to get vegetables that his beloved wife desired. So he probably felt the need to keep the ex-soldiers under him to prevent them figuring that out themselves and staging an assassination attempt or something.
