Lets be honest, this should have been its own story-- it's too good for this manga. Also, this is when she decides to make the ring? Because he's strong? Because she was somehow touched by his selfless acts in taking on negative impressions for the benefit of those around him? For this guy she met like 20 minutes ago (who also just destroyed her home security)?

Legitimately what I was thinking the whole time I was reading this! It feels like a total waste of a backstory and emotional buildup if the ring ends up going to the MC

Maybe it's something like the time they spent together made it able for her to have an understanding of time / life that can be fleeting? Mostly because it wasn't simply old age that took Netos' life, but something that exists beyond any form of control.

...In the end, that's me just trying to spitball some form of answer where there might not even be one.

That's one heck of a blessing. Did one of her ancestors wish to be able to create the most beautiful jewelry, causing the monkey's paw to curl?

Wow. That's one heck of a twist on the Jumi from Legend of Mana.

(Not asserting it's derived from that story, just that it absolutely calls it to mind. Especially the part about their heart turning into a magic stone.)

Thanks for the new chapter!

This one of the reasons why archetyped long-lived elves are always depicted as ones who avoids attachments with non-elven or at least races which cannot live as long as they are; and they are also depicted as cold towards others because they will have to deal with these sort of things for a long time.
