Wait a second, so the prince just casually let the collar remain on the girl all suspicion currently being on the main character?
How has that not resulted in the vassals rebelling for this outright act of tyranny?
Because he shifted the blame to the MC and the girl. They are at fault despite him being the tyrannical bitch who started this entire circus. Also doesn't help that the dad/king does not want point all this out and help when he knows.

Ohhhh I see now, hope the first prince kills himself fucking dickhead
I believe he is the second prince. And that he can only act like that because daddy dearest and eldest brother are both absent.

EDIT: But yeah, it's clear this piece of shit wants to have his dumb sex doll and the throne, so he's trying to get rid of competition. Shame he only has enough braincells to think of the worst possible methods.

Yeah, the dad seems to want the third prince to solve this on his own and to improve the son's reputation. And being out of the capital city gives him a perfect excuse to not interfere in this shitshow.

Still, the fact that the stupid prince could break an engagement, arrest and put restriction on a high-ranking noble without any due process shows that he is not a crown prince material. Regardless of the rumor that the third prince stole the fiancée, in real world situation, nobles would think whether they would want to be ruled by this idiot who did not respect their prerogatives, and this would destroy any support this idiot has.

Unless there is a translation error, in the first chapter page 44, the king calls the idiot prince as "the first prince." https://mangadex.org/chapter/caf6c068-99da-4289-a779-e0dabbf022b6/44

You know the dumb prince kept calling out MC's 'crime' for so many times that I forgot what the deal it even was and had to go back to the first chapter to skim through for a refresher. So for those who are like me who are lost on what's going on, here's a short breakdown of what happened from beginning:

  • In typical villainess/otome game-esque fashion, story starts off with dumb prince publicly calling off the engagement with his fiance for cruelty against a commoner girl (the 'heroine') he has fallen for. This was without warning or prior notice to anyone involved, including the royal and ducal families who arranged the marriage to begin with.
  • MC steps in calling out the prince's call out in a very villain-like manner without legitimately admitting getting involved with the cruelty against the 'heroine', directing attention and aggression to himself instead of the fiance. The dumb prince stuck his antagonizing to him like glue by that point.
So in short it all centers around a commoner girl who really shouldn't be getting too cozy with an engaged prince to begin with, and as of now, as the MC has said numerous times, there's not only no evidence that points to him orchestrating the cruelty on the girl, but also none aiming towards the (ex)fiance. I'm guessing while this whole conspiracy started off with the dumb prince finding a way to break the engagement with his fiance, whether it was planned or not, he is dead set on getting the MC dragged down with her after his grand entrance for intervening. A 'kill two birds with one stone' moment, but he's oddly desperate to make that happen, having not anything to do with the fiance or the commoner girl he has 'fallen for' at this point.

And dear old king daddy is just sitting out and let the boys fight among themselves while he's absent, not intervening, probably so there won't be signs of favoritism between either of them and gain the upper hand of inheriting the throne, as well as giving a harsh lesson of reality in taking accountability for their actions. Even if the drama died down and everybody involved leaves without punishment, the dumb prince still left a stain on his reputation for making such brash decisions and accusations on his own dampening the public's opinion on him for whether they want such a person as their ruler, but that may be too light of an ending.

He is the first prince yes, the raw use 第一王子 for the idiot, so 'First Prince', if it was 2nd it would be 第二, while mc is 第三

And the king (his father) is fully aware of this. And completely ignores even though she's daughter of a high noble.

You should also note that the King explicitly wants the third prince to solve this, in order to raise both his and Char's reputations. The fact that Char is here to is pretty much the only reason MC will do anything, and the king knows it.

A bunch of y'all in the replies seem to think the King is just sitting around doing jack shit. I mean, he is, but he's made it explicitly clear that he's leaving this to MC to solve so he can get the credit and increase his reputation. This King isn't that stupid and is probably going to step in proper once MC has done his job.

Yeah. If my dad pulled shit like that, then I'd beat him into next week, and then asked him whether the results of his scheme had been as much fun as he'd imagined.

The king could clear this situation up directly; and, yes, he is responsible for producing the shitty son.
Not saying that the king isn't responsible for letting all this happen due to his inaction, or that he couldn't solve it himself. The fact is that solving this himself does nothing to help the third prince's reputation, so he's letting the third prince do it himself.

“Subjects of my kingdom, my third son's poor reputation is an artefact of my mishandling the situation. Let me tell you what he's actually done and why.” EoS
