this is true, but this manga adaptation ended a couple years ago. Im pretty sure this didnt have the completed tag until this chapter was posted.
If it got the completed tag around when this chapter was posted, then it means publishing ended around when this chapter was poster

I do remember at the end of this story in the WN

The brother after losing his arm become so chad at the final battle (luccille is actually part of bigger group lead by night witch, who also related to the previous saint as in the heroine/charlotte ancestor), he's still in love with lucille and reconcile with the family

The brother then use combination of fight and talk no jutsu to luccile that he managed lucille to drop the fight (tough she got betrayed by the night witch). Later she got prisoned and her magic sealed with the same collar she used on fmc, but the brother keep visiting lucille in the prison

Lucille actually is the hero of hero party in the past who got betrayed by her childhood friend and the kingdom. At least after she got revived by the night witch she managed to kill everyone in the kingdom, good riddance

Since both of them considered sinner, thats why the brother and lucille get together in the end, tough the brother now wanted to become king so he can freed lucille from the prison
But at least the competition for the throne is running in healthier condition

I think i need to reread the WN again tough

Gotta hand it to them, didn't see that coming.

Felt almost as random as the way "Her Majesty's Swarm" ended.
I believed the reason for the cancellation was partially due to the artist's health. That she couldn't keep up with the schedule.

Is it just me, or was Lucille nonsensically appearing out of nowhere and chopping off his arm then disappearing… a pretty good metaphor for how the axe was carried out?

A couple years ago? dude this ended last month on the 21st and the final volume released on the 27th lmao, like the completed tag was added here because i reported it the day the manga ended
my bad, the date i saw was actually the release date of volume 3 of the light novel instead. That was released back in 2023.

Honestly, its one thing for a promo manga to end too early, its another for the ending to be kinda bad.

Well this is more upsetting than anything. If you're doing a promo manga at least make it feel like it encompasses a whole arc or two. This felt like a rushed half of an arc.

I think people are misunderstanding something. Yes it sucks when the series ends early, but it depends on the popularity of the adaptation, mainly in Japan.

Some novels treat it like the ad festival promo that it is. It sucks, but they know the qual of their work. Others that are super popular know they have a shot, and so do the publishers. They put more money behind it, and it blows up enough to become a full series.

It’s the same principle for some anime. Although it’s easier to tell with anime, as they use cookie cutter, bare bones animation and designs. Also they butcher the story to get to the “good” parts of a series faster. Off the top of my head, I’d say Otome mob, Mato Slave, S-Class Daughter, hell, Air Gear all fall in this category.
