No idea why everyone is so heated
Sniping is to release a new chapter before the group/person that currently works on the series uploads them, like a sniper shooting someone before they can see them. This is considered rude because now the work that's already done (but not finished) of the people working on the scan is rendered somewhat unnecessary and wasted, since the majority of people will read the faster release; why would they read that chapter again even if the current scan finished it eventually.

Reworking/fixing/another interpretation of old chapters has always been a welcomed thing to do, because it only benefits everyone and especially new readers; they can pick and choose which version to read and release time doesn't matter for them.

This is simply not a case of sniping @TangPing, don't let this stop you from trying to improve an old mess of a chapter (from any manga), you did a great job (compared to the old one).
Make sure to contact the current group/person working on a series if you ever plan to release a new chapter however.

What ESLs fail to realize is that the longer they continue propping up bad TLs, the more MTL works will continue to appear and worsen translation for all.
Sad you got dunked tbh, I mostly agree with you but maybe it would've been better received had you say it a tad nicer and without the "bad TLs leads to more MTL" part.

MTL will just be released regardless, there's no correlation there. People demand faster releases, MTL provides it, they're not going away or will ever be reduced sadly.

You used the word debunked wrong, but I get what you mean. I don't really care about being received properly, since I don't expect much from Mangadex in the first place nor do I care about popularity. I just like pointing out hypocrisy and false positivity as well as exposing stupidity. I don't care that much about being received, if I did I would never post at all. Everyone here is either broke, children or just bored. Not really an environment that inspires intelligent discussion.

If standards are lower, lower grade products will be more accepted. You just talked about being accepted as if it's important, so I wouldn't be surprised if even MTL makers had the same thoughts and would be put off if they were "unpopular" so of course there's a correlation. lol I agree that bad MTLs would be released regardless though. Sadpanda's situation is proof of that. Some people think proofreading is unnecessary.

Best case scenario is if MTL itself gets better over time, which it will. Who knows how long that will take and what level of accuracy it will reach though.

Same.. smh

Sadly, people nowadays are either entitled or just getting offended on behalf of someone, and it so happens that someone is kinda chill/calm about it.
I mean, both have something they were right about, they're just arguing for the sake of arguing, idkk

Basically, all of what you've said were right.
I just don't know when and where all these terminologies lost its meaning.
Is it the generation? idkk..
I'm not calling myself old (or maybe i'm just in denial lmao)
but I used to read scanlations like with a slogan "Made by Fans for Fans" idkk something like that..
Can't really explain much since English is not my mother tongue too, so it's hard raking my brain for words I've no idea.
But bottom line is, scanlations back in the day used to be a charity (kinda?) deed by fans for fans.
like they do it coz they want to:
1. share the updates (although illegally)
2. practice the language
3. hobby that they sort of enjoy
4. any other reason, idkk etc etc

It just so happen that with the advance technological trend nowadays, new groups expect to be paid, don't get me wrong tho, I'm not against people getting paid for their skills.
What I want them to realize is they're doing something illegal yet wanting to be compensated like official distributors.

also don't get me started with people who share scanlations to actual authors, smh
getting the groups in trouble, worse disbanding.

I appreciate the internet we have today, especially being from a 3rd world country, but from all the upgrades we have, there's bound to be some downgrades too and sadly this is one example.

Okee, I realized I'm just ranting, and reminiscing and etc idkk, imma stop ktnxbaiii~

You used the word debunked wrong
I said "dunked" though, as in you're being pressured by mobs of people
You just talked about being accepted as if it's important
That's not the point. My point is you have valid points that you failed to convey because you hit all the wrong notes, when otherwise I think most people (possibly even the ones who responded negatively to you) would've agreed with you.
Dial down the cheekiness next time, would probably lead to a healthier discussion regardless of whether the people you're talking to are kids or broke (I don't even see how that's relevant)
If standards are lower, lower grade products will be more accepted
I'm all for having decent standards, but scanlations are free. Nobody have real obligation to release something of quality as if they're being paid to do competent work. MTL is already somewhat unpopular, many refuse to read MTL releases because they, obviously, suck (unless it's proofread and touched up); once again them being popular or not doesn't matter, hence the no correlation. You're being too optimistic if you think disparaging low quality scans have any impact on the rise of MTL releases

So, about that last page, it looks like this otome might accidentally become a yaoi harem, and just the possibility of something like that has me hooked!
