NGL, this is a mainstream trope for modern media. Sure it's taken to the extreme here, but one or more absentee parents who are too busy to interact with their children. It happens way more often IRL then it should.

That's not to say I don't also find the maid and butler's actions sus, only that it's extremely easy for perents with a lot of power and responsibilities to forget that they need to provide their children with positive personal attention rather then leaving it to the nanny and tutors.

Yes, but it's made worse by the fact the king and queen actually take the time to convene and go over reports about the prince's affairs every day. Instead of spending that much time with the prince himself. It might not be a lot of time, but it would still be time together with him. But to dedicate that time to get a summary from a third person makes it look like they are purposefully avoiding their son, yet still want to know how he's doing. That's something you don't definitely see in the trope. Of course you might have a parent working overseas asking the other parent how the children are doing, but that's just how it would go in real life as well.

I mean, Cain was originally one of the love interests in the otome game, anyway, so it's pretty expected for that to happen. What matters is the process and speed it takes for her to fall head-over-heels for him.
