So ignoring the fact that everyone would know about it if it were actually a tradition, so FL would literally be expecting this theater...
The royal family conspired to break the future Crown Princess' heart, then have her seduced by another prince, all while her original (and intended) fiance spends several weeks flirting with another woman in order to learn how to open up because apparently a couple weeks with another woman is enough for him to do what he couldn't do with FL after years together? And at the end of all that everyone fully expects the fiancee they have just spent weeks manipulating and cruelly tormenting to just go "oh cool" and return to how things originally were? Just how often does this "tradition" end absolutely horribly? I'm guessing that's why FL never learned about this "tradition", its probably never actually resulted in a re-engagement before, so the royal family pretends it wasn't just an incredibly stupid prank gone wrong.
