Hooonestly, I kinda saw it coming, a bit. All the others had been romantic partners available to Pina, and he was adopted in, so they aren't related by blood. So, it was entirely possible that, despite the social and legal circumstances, he'd still be attracted to the girl (Emi) who did so much for him.

EDIT: Correction, they were cousins, so there's some blood relation there. That being said, Queen Elizabeth of England and the Prince of England were cousins, soooo... It's not really that out there.

Huh, that actually is a good question. What did happen to the original star maiden? We see how Remelia was still around, watching everything Emi was doing. So the og star maiden was probably doing the save thing too, watching her be absolutely vile against her wishes. I can totally see Remelia somehow bringing back the original maiden to the front, allowing her to live a good life.

Y'know, I don't actually see much of an issue going through the backdoor if everyone's consenting of it (and you clean out before and after, stay safe and healthy, folks). But the fact she did this to frame someone while keeping some stupid idea of chastity...and to also probably not get pregnant, all things considered, well. She had also planned for Remilia's Emi to get assaulted, which is peak bullshit.
Still, I understand the reaction from these folks. It's high society and all, and science, social states, and all that should be considered. If Emi saw it, she'd probably be grossed out but otherwise not have as much of a reaction. Maybe it's more of a modern thing to say "hole is hole" or something...

The extremely satisifying revenge and screeching segment aside, the first part with the brother almost got me.
At first I was happy that he seemed like a nice, supportive brother, which quickly turned into disgust at the incestuous pining and abuse (I also can't remember if it was hinted at previously, it has been a while).

It was hinted at in the very first chapter, Claude was originally Remilia’s cousin but was adopted into the Graupner family after his father died of illness, he’s harboured romantic affections for her since then.

From an otome game love interests perspective it honestly makes sense that he fell for her. They were close from a young age, she welcomes him in after his father dies, she also saved his dad from bandits allowing the two to reconcile before the dad passed. Not tryna justify Claude in any way, because that coward deserves what’s coming to him, but to be fair, given that it’s a archetypal fantasy world roughly based off medieval Europe, the incest part (between cousins as opposed to blood siblings) isn’t all that surprising nor uncommon.

Moreover the author probably was counting on modern perspectives making people feel grossed out so that we feel even less sympathy for his shallow motives
