What I like about this series is that in a different series, the FL would change the prince’s heart through her hard work and he would become a better person, worthy of the throne. But so far, that hasn’t happened. Despite the fact that he looks the part (unlike other false MLs that have their appearances distorted to make it obvious they’re not the ML) the prince really is just that stupidly arrogant. And judging from just the cold open from chapter 1, that likely won’t change unless the author pulls some complicated bullshit that makes that relationship work.
I think this is also one of the rare reincarnated 'otome villainesses' who is actually selfish, scheming and ruthless enough to even qualify for that title. Although the prince kinda deserves it by being an entitled brat, she is totally planning to overthrow him for entirely self-centered reasons.

Nah; she’s spent 5 years as his fiancée putting up with his crap while being willing to see the marriage through. Her plans to manipulate the end of their engagement and ruin his chances at the throne are more than just self-motivated reasons. It’s for the good of the nation at this point.
The point is that, instead of more typical patterns of trying and ultimately failing to get out of the engagement (because the reincarnator is actually nice), or complete role reversal where the OG couple are the evil scheming ones and MC is on the defence, here the MC takes the initiative to decide that she just really doesn't like that engagement after all, and seriously plots to end it and have the prince take the fall (involving other people in the conspiracy too), while said prince is just an arrogant idiot.

I read it long time ago,
CP broke the engagement as per plan, while listing all Etheria's 'crime':
1. Bribe the principal so her friend can win art competition,
(she give out color pencils to all the participants on the said competition even the one that on CP side, the principal took some color pencils for his daughter)
2. Had other ladies bullying heroine at the tea parties,
(They just ask what her family do for living and how far their territory are. When she can't answer, heroine just start complaining that all they doing an unless talking)
3. Etheria destroying heroine's belongings,
(Heroine destroy it herself 'just like in the book' to gain sympathy and put blamed on Etheria)
Etheria then counter it by claiming that CP seem to be buying a ridiculous amount of presents for her using treasury money, but why she doesn't receive any of it. Then they bring in the tailor that supposed to make 'Etheria' dress on CP order. The tailor don't recognize Etheria instead goes to heroine to thank 'Etheria' for her order.
Heroine then claim that it's alright to spend that much since she is the crown princess, that even the Queen use that much for her dress. Queen is mad at the amount of disrespect and doens't want to discuss any longer, so she told King to accept annulment. King then announce the annulment and CP will be strip off his position and become baron? He still got a small territory as he still noble.
Ex prince then got house arrest in his dormitory, and after he was let out not only he had to use a cargo carriage to go to castle, he end up can't meet the King to bargain since he no longer prince. Only after his mother shout to him that he realizes that he no longer CP. As for heroine, she basically got erase from all the records, be it in the school, the church even in her family register. And again it was only after she got send to Ex's new territory that she realizes that Ex no longer CP.
Etheria herself got a title and some territory that used to belong to Ex's noble faction.

i can imagine how much despair he realized at the end. the fact that his mom herself that asking for annulment say alot that despite her desire for becoming the queen she still rational enough to understand his son is lost cause. btw what happened after it? do the mc still writing Bl 😂?
