Also I think there's a slip in the dialogue. Like, I don't know what the original text is, but "Edo residence of Mito domain" sounds awkward. It is a reference to how in the Edo shogunate period domain lords of a certain status are required to have a residence in the Edo capital for official business (江戸藩邸 Edo hantei). It feels like it would have been better written as "The Edo residence of Mito domain's lord" or "the Edo residence for Mito Domain".

Also of course there's going to be some random thuggery going on. If we're having a "Mito domain lord" we have to play "Mito-Koumon" LMAO. Our fake Ye Olde Japan setting is never complete without a Mito Koumon parody.

Whoops, I forgot to add a TL note for エド屋敷 (Edo yashiki), which is basically the same concept as 江戸藩邸 (Edo hantei). "The Edo residence of Mito Domain's lord" is indeed the most accurate translation. I just omitted the "lord" part because I figured that, in the feudal era, the domain was implicitly associated with its lord. Also, the dialogue bubble has limited space, so that's about as much text as it will fit.

It does feel like that, though I think that's because Ueyama-sensei decided to put the flashback scene at the beginning of the chapter, which is... an interesting choice...

Btw, I suspect the title of Chapter 63 is a reference to Mito Koumon. It's written as 美登尋問 (Mito Jinmon, "Mito Investigation"), which feels like a play on the period drama.

Can't wait to see what that Mito situation ends up being, LOL. Also, I'm seeing in the other language's chapter titles that there's going to be a Tooyama something, and that's another period drama reference (Tooyama no Kin-san, if you don't already know).

Yep, in Chapter 64, it became 遠山の龍さん (Tooyama no Ryuu-san). Not only that, but the next chapter's title is a reference to 暴れん坊将軍 (Abarenbo Shogun, "The Unfettered Samurai"). In our case, it's 暴れん坊御隠居 (Abarenbo Goinkyo, "The Unfettered Retiree"). As I said, Ueyama-sensei is really having a field day with this volume.
