I think Kenzaburou's connection to his still-living body might have something to do with the ease at which it was able to manifest.

Alternatively, BECAUSE Hinako was actively playing the game, the 'distance' was 'centimeters', but if Grace had tried that during an elision in the story (e.g. when the story 'skips' a few days to the next 'event'), she might not have been able to open the window at all.
