(Internally) old man yells at stones.

Having to involve the students in the magic circle was quite interesting, good thing Anna was paying attention.

I looked up the reason for all the yelling in curling - standard curling sheet is about 45 meters long and 5 meters wide and often there are multiple teams playing simultaneously next to each other, thus the need to be loud to give commands to the teammates. It's weird Grace and Anna are screaming when there's only the teacher around, but oh well, magic is the universal answer.

Happy New Year and as usual thanks for the chapter.

Okay, so 100% the people you'd ask depending on who your route was going down had to be scripted to be able to do this. Otherwise you could accidentally soft-lock yourself and cause a game over (or reset). Though, who would you go with if your route was with Virgil seeming how he was already evolved? No, I guess since this is supposed to be a 2nd year event, it could still be Virgil? But he's already evolved...

After rechecking CH 41, I'm even more confused. "And third, you need a very high affinity with a specific love-interest character! So basically, it's a event meant to be cleared together with a specific character once your route with them is locked in."

It has Virgil there in the background blacked out.

So this is something that can only be cleared with Virgil? But even then, since you, the protagonist, can have any element- wouldn't it change? Virgil will always have the wind attribute, Anna can have any attribute. Grace was fire and water, though I'm sure in the original game she probably had Water- Since it couldn't be boosted by Virgil to the same degree fire could be. Or maybe it was simply a different magical geometry setup, and I'm simply overthinking.

All I know is I'd get to this part and start looking up a guide on how best to skip through this tower asap.

I think it's a cultural thing- Kiai is the reason why shonen protagonists yell/scream in manga. It's a belief that the shout releases 'internal energy' and is well- extrapolated to the maximum in anime/manga/webtoons/etc. So while Curling itself doesn't have that cultural aspect, I'm sure the author thought it did.

"I see, so it's a curling-style game."
I mean, that's been obvious for like two weeks now to anyone familiar with the modern world.

Page 8 has a rare frame of Grace being excited.

You know, having the characters be part of the circle is a twist that makes sense.

She looks good even as a Christmas tree.

I absolutely love how in the final illustration, we see Grace wearing an accessory on her right ear and Anna one on her left.
For those who don't know, in Umamusume, the ear each character wears an accessory on is used to indicate whether a character is based on a mare or a stallion. (Right ear stallion, left ear mare)
So basically, it's a nod to the fact that Grace is actually Kenzaburo inside by having her outfit conform to that rule.
Very nice detail!

To be fair you also see people yell/grunt for example in tennis. Lots of other sports too. It's often some sort of reflexive thing people just do when releasing tension. So can just be a general sport attitude; doesn't necessarily have to have deeper meaning.
