Reading this story as an older reader, those social commentary chapters are more moving and seem to be what the Mangaka is struggling to communicate to us. I don't think he has an answer and I don't think he expect us to have one but at least he wants societies to think a bit more about the limitations of the current social structures and the parts we like to ignore.
Maybe doing some volunteer work will benefit me personally I guess. Just random thoughts.
