I'm close to someone who has experience working with children, and their experience is that you just wind up with kids who've never been told 'no, you can't do that' at home and have to have it drilled into their thick little skulls. You still wind up with the odd kid who finds new ways to sexually harass their teachers.
Also, it's great to hear you had a resful vacation, SG. Also, I absolutely agree on the Mexican food. The more Hispanic grandmothers involved in the actual cooking, the better. (I love me some chili rellenos!)
