I will never understand why this "you can't work on a series other group is doing! That's like stealing!" mentality is a thing. Back in the early 00s, no one gave a shit. In fact, multiple people/groups doing a series was a good thing because it allowed you to choose the translation style that you liked the most.

Wait, is this series being sniped?
That explains the odd Font used here.. it stands out too much… sniping ruined a good series(my dearest nemesis) in the past, I hope this series is not next.
It looks like an "odd font" to you, but the previous chapter's person basically used only two. I've read the raws and this one follows closely the original fontwise.

It clearly didn't "ruin" this series: this chapter is an improvement by leaps and bounds compared to the previous one. Better typesetting, better redraws, better grammar and better translation.

I understand French and I can tell you that the French translation has a lot of issues, too (not counting the poor redraws and typesetting).

Also, I know some people who are ready to pick it back up should this one abandon it.

This should allay most of the fears in this thread. Given the uploader's name, I think most people are worried that we could be left without translations again (that's probably how the other series mentioned in that comment was "ruined") so it's good have some insurance here.

Also, despite their name, this group consistently translates the "not yaoi/yuri crossdressing manga".

the question for me is will this person now continue doing this series? if so, great. If it's just some weird snipe to dunk on MTL then that's pretty pointless.
Sure MTL is no one's first choice but it's better than no TL at all.
You could also argue that they could do one of the many many series that are in limbo because the TL got dropped instead of sniping this which just got picked up again. just makes it seem more petty than anything
MTL translation is actually significantly worse than no TL at all.
If you want to distort the authors work and ruin a series for yourself by seeing the art next to dialogue that is filtered through machine learning distortion there are plenty of tools online to do that with the original japanese. Not only is posting an MTL pointless, it also significantly impedes motivation for a series to be translated by a group willing to do actual work, and sends a signal to publishers that official english TL's aren't worth doing.
Don't use MTL kids: it is bad for your enjoyment, bad for the community, bad for the Mangaka, and bad for the world.

I own volume 11 and there are a few changes to it in compared to the comic-days version online.

I can't quote it directly as I don't want to get both out. But one part that stuck with me was when Mahiro said something along the lines of "so you're that kind of person" (in the classroom flashback not in the original flashback). In the online version, they simply put emphasis on it by putting black dots as furigana. But in the TKB, it's spelt out in the furigana, and it's not what Saki thinks she meant.

I personally think MTL is a blight on the community. But good on anybody who scanlates this. I feel way too uncomfortable to scanlate licensed works. Otherwise I would've loved to pick this up.

As someone who discovered manhuas yuri over a decade ago when mtl was the majority, I very much disagree

FYI, I had started to translate chapter 42, but then that "origin" group did their thing when I was halfway through (full redraw of this one is a challenge), so I gave up on 42. However, seeing that the quality still wasn't there for such a good series, I moved on to chapter 43, which I did in two days.

Also, I plan on continuing.

Also, if you don't like the fonts, well, tough luck.

I actually really like the font here, FWIW. Thanks for picking up the series!

excited to hear you're intent on continuing. It's a fantastic story, and I appreciate the effort & polish you bring to it.
I'd honestly love to see you do the whole series from scratch just for that quality you bring, but that's a very tall order and not something I'd selfishly wish of you.
You doing what you are here and now is more than appreciated, as it is, so thank you for the care you've shown in bringing this to us.

And the fonts are fine. They're legible and feel "legitimate" in a way that the previous don't (as MTL-esque as they were), and adds to the degree of polish overall, I'd argue.

Thank you, first of all, for wanting to continue this series. It is a good read and deserved to be translated.

I am also grateful that you are considering on continuing it. I really didn't saw anything wrong with the fonts that were used, I am just happy I can finally enjoy this series in English once again.

And I am sure that others feel grateful as well, despite not commenting.

Saki's tests cost a fortune? Is that how it works in Japan? I thought they had a good healthcare system.

I know having your old crush in close proximity must be stressing(also exciting) but stay true to your heart Saki! Thanks for the translation, I hope you keep it up.

i don't think so. Saki was in the closest and don't even consider make any move until have the "girl relationship is real" talk lately.
And With the "...how close she was", sound like such a useless lesbian thing to say 😂 I feel either she is Saki crush, or she give Saki "I know what you are" look, so Saki avoid her. I don't think there are any thing big like whole class find out she was gay
She’s been seen before she’s the one in middle schoool who asked if she’s a lesbian

Fixed that for you:

She’s been seen before. She’s the one in middle school who Saki thinks asked her if she’s a lesbian.

You won't really get this in the scanlation either because it was only made explicit to us as the reader in volume 11 of the tankoubon. The comic days version is still ambiguous unless they went and amended it.
