Solid stuff. Great TL work as ever, glad you're working on this series.

Interesting to see Saki's assumptions brought under the light of day. I look forward to seeing her pick apart why she showed up suddenly, thinking about the Mahiro she envisioned before. Definitely noteworthy and I'm excited to see when it clicks.

Seeing Kanon show up outside in the dark and rain startled me too--but then again, that's how important Saki is to her. Hopefully Saki internalizes that. She's got a lot going on, clearly...but continuing to run away from her feelings is only going to lead to history repeating itself, in a way that carries more implications and consequences than before.

Oh, fuck...

She projected her internalised bullshit (lots of people deal with it) onto someone who just wanted to be friends.

The only person who hated her was herself.
Mood.
I'm a really big fan of the way this was set up and then subverted because it is quite common for this type of character to exist as a sort of trope for establishing an external reason for why the mc has intimacy issues. But here it's revealed that it's Saki's own fears and self loathing that cause her to isolate and put up walls towards those people she actually feels attraction towards

Finally, Saki was able to realize that all of this time she was not hated or prosecuted for who she is - that was all in her head.
And that ending segment is such... Peak... :meguu:

Kanon being worried for Saki and deciding to visit her, despite rain and dark being threat to her. It really shows how much she loves and cares about her. :hearts:

Cannot wait for translations to keep up with raws, as it will only be peak upon peak from here.

Literally made that face, am making that face. Hurts to not.

Aaaaaaaaaaaagh! I've had to come out to myself like 5 times and to others who knows and I always feel like I've wasted years of my life!

Edit: 5 because I was wrong a couple times, and there's a couple things

Thanks for the TL! I'm feeling downright spoiled, with chapters only days apart instead of months.

This was a very enlightening chapter, that really upended a lot of my(and I assume our) assumptions about Saki's past. Previous chapters suggested that she was traumatized by malicious outing and bullying in middle school, and while she was outed (in a way that I can believe was traumatizing by how public and embarrassing it was) it doesn't seem liked she faced any malicious behavior from any of her classmates.

It seems that Saki's trauama actually comes from a sense of internalized homophobia and fear of sticking out and not fitting in with 'normal' people. Though I think its less that Saki wants to be 'normal' and more that she hates the attention that comes from standing out as weird or unusual.

That moment where Saki seems to have blocked out the memory of what she said to get people to back off.. I'm kinda thinking she might have said something homophobic out of a panicked desire to not be openly gay. It would certainly put a lot of cold water on how people were acting

Regarding Mahiro, I'm wondering if she's not just a friendly person wanting to be close Saki, but actually has feelings for her (though I think that is pretty unlikely). I would feel bad for her is she considering Saki/Kanon is locked in, but I think Saki would benefit immensely from having a queer peer she could discuss things with.

Did she get outed? The next panel after Mahiro's question talks about words never spoken echoing in her head. I can't really figure out what that meant

Well, Saki know she was into woman since that times so Kanon wasn`t a solitarie case.
I think the idea was break that issue of think that a person she had conflict was actually scared

My read is that past chapters gave the assumption she was, but as it turns out, it was all in her head, effectively.

I took that line to mean that Mahiro didn't actually ask her that question on pg. 9. Saki was spiraling in panic, catastrophizing a scenario where she gets outed after Mahiro comes over after being called by the other two. Saki blanks out, doesn't remember what she said--or if she said anything. And she just assumes her worst fear is what happens--namely, Mahiro asking if she's gay, out loud in front of others.

Given she comments about how Mahiro's eyes remind Saki of her old piano teacher, I'd argue there's some old internalized trauma transferring into the moment that Mahiro starts coming up to her. Saki had a rough time over her one-sided crush on her former instructor, and that stress carried over into this situation, compounding with her anxiety in the moment to invent a situation, and then a Mahiro, that she proceeds to avoid.

And that's why the sudden mental visualization of herself in Mahiro's old place in Saki's mind is so important.
Saki's not processed it as of this point, but it hints that Saki herself is what's been troubling her this whole time.
