You never tell anyone what you dislike or what you want, yet you just go and act like the victim all on your own.
She’s right and I have noticed this about Saki. In fact, when I stopped to think about it, this all goes a lot deeper than her sexuality.

I struggle to think of any instance where Saki was with another person and they did something she wanted to do, though there are plenty of times someone else pushes her into doing something for them without her really pushing back at all. I also can’t think of a time where someone did something that made her uncomfortable and she stood up for herself, as opposed to shutting down or running away. I’m not even sure what Saki likes beyond girls and piano, and even the latter was a more recent development and something she struggled to express even to Kanon.

Apparently, she’s been like this since she was a child. It sounds like it started when her mother had to take care of her grandmother and Saki was no longer the priority she should have been, so she stopped prioritising herself. I find it telling that part of what made her piano recitals important to her was because she got to be centre of attention, especially for her mom. It also makes sense in retrospect that her first crush was someone who during their limited time together gave Saki her undivided attention. No wonder Saki stuck with piano for so long despite only recently starting to like playing it.

Even with Kanon, while Saki was the one who pushed for the relationship to happen, most of what they do are things Kanon wants to do. When Saki does or says something that rubs Kanon the wrong way, she speaks up and it gets resolved fairly quickly. When it’s the other way around, Saki can’t do the same and it leaves behind this weird tension that lasts for weeks. Saki is not the only problem though, to her credit, she has taken a lot of initiative to learn more about Kanon and suggest doing things the latter wants to do, but we haven’t seen Kanon do much of the same for her.

What I’m saying is, there is a clear imbalance in how their relationship has worked up until now that somehow just barely worked when they were just friends, but it’s not enough anymore. Now they have to work to find their equilibrium which is a process and not something that can be forced.

Wow, who would know that dark Saki is such awesome support and shipper? And she is right, Saki needs to think about herself a bit more. She more than deserved all the love that Kanon is literally throwing at her.

And she needs to stop thinking what others will say and go full gay mode, Kanon will make sure to shut up everyone who would dare to bully her. I would not be surprised that Kanon already told Tomita in the hallway about the two of them.

This gets into what I think I might've said before (IDR if I actually did, tho). This mangaka either has a relative who is deaf or a friend who is deaf or is deaf or partially deaf herself, because she completely understands how deaf people are and how they communicate and how they think about what goes on in life. Kanon literally acts and thinks like a deaf person (convenient that she is, right?). A while ago I was friends with a deaf person and since they can't hear and the world is a big silent place, communication is viatal to them. Moreso than to people who can hear. Deaf people don't have a lot of the societal boundaries that hearing people do and you can see that in Kanon. She reaches out and touches other people and gets up into other people's faces, not b/c she's rude, but b/c she's trying to make it very clear what she's trying to communicate b/c otherwise, nobody will understand and understanding another person is vital in the deaf community.

Saki is trying to do the typical Japanese thing and run away from a situation that will make her stand out. Kanon doesn't have that fear and mindset, b/c everything she does just naturally stands out being that she's literally different from everybody physiologically (she can't hear) and therefore the psycological need to be understood is greater than any fear of standing out and possibly committing some social faux pas. Now granted, she used to not do anything b/c it was too big of a pain in the butt for her, but Saki finally got her out of her shell and now she's trying to help Saki both to understand her and to tell her that she's in love with her and that she's pretty sure Saki feels the same way and she wants her to actually admit it to herself and her (Kanan). (Also, she wants to kiss Saki REALLY BADLY ー you go, girl).

I just realized, I love the direction it's gonna go but damn if Saki wasn't a closet homo she'd pull a power move and mouth her impure thoughts onto Kanon :meguusmug:
Just a panel of Kanon sitting looking at Saki reading her lips but we don't see Saki and each panel is Kanon blushing and dying from the impure Saki.

Tbh, as the translator, I hope the next sentence really starts with "Ka" in English.

If not, I may have to twist it so that it starts with "Ka" or change the last page of this chapter 😭
