The girl's name is Seira, written as 星羅. The first kanji means star; the second one means gauze/thin silk/Rome/arrange/spread out.

The guy's name is Sora, but written as 宇宙. Normally that would be read as "uchuu", meaning space/universe/cosmos.

Given that he makes this comment after seeing her name written out and she asks Asahi what Sawai's given name is later, I think it's actually (or also) because her surname is Utsugi, written as 空木, which contains the kanji 空, which is is also read as "Sora."

Is "sora" can mean space too in Japanese? I thought it's sky.

The above kanji is the one used for emptiness, void, and the sky — it's also used in "karate" (空手), which literally means "empty hand."
