Hey man, don't gotta come at me about it. I'm just telling you how it actually is. Fact is, as far as everyone else is concerned, when you give a rating less than 8, you are stating that you think it's average at best, maybe read it if you have nothing else to read. 6? Trash that they shouldn't even touch.you seem to be incapable of math.
6/10 is above the half.
in a rating system 3-4 is an average percentage.
this makes 6 above average.
not high, yet also not too low.
that implies that 7 "is for trash", is actually a false argument.
I don't know in what kind of world your statement makes any sense. well, aside personal opinions.
Again, I'm talking about how things are, not how they'd ideally be. And you could just ignore this and do it how you think it should be, but... the rating system is inherently something that you use collaboratively with others. Everyone's input is considered, the point is for others to see it. So how other people will interpret your rating is the most important thing. If you give low ratings like 6 or 7 to series that you enjoy, you are doing them a disservice.
Refer to what this guy is saying.
Wellllllll… you're both sort of correct.
On the one hand, per the legend that MD offers for the ratings, 5/10 is for things that you find average (ie anything that leaves you completely indifferent), and anything above that is for things you find better than indifferent.
On the other hand, fact is and remains that the median rating across the entirety of the site is around 7.5/10. In other words, any manga rated less than ~7/10 is in the bottom half of ratings, and anything below 5.5 is in the bottom 1%.
I think this is mainly because, most of the time, when a title won't appeal to a specific user, the description is enough to make that known; thus, most below-fives instead turn to no-votes, artificially inflating the ratings.
