No, the <code> css just doesn't use preformatted text, so whitespace acts like it normally does in html documents. Should probably change that, actually.

Just to make a case for Anilist being supported here, if you're still pondering, this month alone almost 900 new manga were added to the database (see graph).
Most new manga added to Mangadex are added to Anilist on the same day, or at most a few days later since submissions are approved pretty fast (usually no more than a week after the initial submission).
And even manga that have not been translated are constantly added. Over 100 new serials are released in Japan per month and a lot of them are added to the database each month.
I think it's safe to say that, compared to MAL, who have over 5,000 submissions waiting for approval, some dating back years, Anilist is at least more responsive to community submissions and cares about maintaining their manga database, especially with newer stuff, and I think it'd be totally fair to have them as a supported link when MAL also gets one

MyAnimeList for comparison's sake (link to a thread keeping track of approvals/rejections on MAL's manga database)
Though they haven't kept track recently, in December only about 15 new manga were added to MAL.

So while MAL does have more total manga (about 46,500) they barely add anything per month, and this happens consistently every month. Basically the major reason they have more total numbers is because they have been around for much, much longer, but it's clear that nowadays they hardly care about keeping their manga database up to date, and I think within months, maybe a year or two at best, they will be overtaken by Anilist and even possibly other sites as well if they care enough.

Same, what does my animelist have to do with politics?

I'm guessing from the context that they probably did something annoying like the rest of the idiots hijacking Civil Rights and Equality for hypocritical PC politics, but I actually don't know this time.

What did they do . . . . . . . . please tell me. . . . . . Sigh.

MAL sold their soul to companies.

Before, they were a fan site, supported Fansubs. But when the owner sold the site to companies, they started caring more about profit than anime.

That doesn't really have anything to do with this suggestion.

Anilist actually tries to add series, and more recently many are being added before they even begin publishing - there's already dozens for 2019. It's silly not to use it.

I'd gladly leave MAL but anilist looks like it was designed by blind monkey with broken arms.

Thank you @Nosebleed, that is quite informative and reaffirms what I had thought of the submissions on the sites.

Thanks @Morimasa for making that, I'll try using that for now.

@MarvN when you go through every entry and add all missing MAL IDs, so that we can use the Anilist api to map the MAl IDs to the AniList IDs

@Lymus anilist has a larger scope, an almost certainly soon to be larger database and a functional API that most services switched to after MAL gave up. You can't add missing MAL IDs if MAL doesn't add the manga.

anilist has over 400 manga that started publishing after October 1st - MAL has nine.

A while ago I also sent a message about users adding the IDs of unapproved MAL entries to this site. MAL's backlog and handling of entries means some series have up to a dozen unapproved duplicates live on their site - the moment one of them gets approved, the rest get deleted, it's impossible to verify which one will remain. The reply I got was to fix it myself - which isn't possible.

This is live unapproved entries of one manga. Impossible to state which will remain until it gets approved:

if that was a serious answer, that honestly makes no sense. first, I'm asking for at the least an anilist option for now, so we can add the anilist IDs and use them as links. It would be nice to have them all mapped from the MAL IDs, but at the least, basic anilist functionality should be added. Why can't you just add the anilist field itself? Also, the script morimasa made is able to search for an anilist page even without a MAL linked, because MAL of course can't approve anything in a timely manner. For example, this https://mangadex.org/title/32893/shachiku-succubus-no-hanashi

btw, anilist when

The reasons to add AL seems more than compelling.
Doesn't make sense not to include a database that is actively and constantly updated with new content.

I honestly hope MangaDex reconsiders and adds AL in the near future please.

There is nothing to reconsider, we haven't rejected it, it will be added at some point.

Repeatedly asking when it's coming won't make it any faster. And may just annoy the people involved in the implementation enough to delay it.

As much as I hate it, AL (despite being incredibly horribly designed) is at least the second most popular of these list sites, so it makes sense to prioritize it. However, would it be possible to add other ones, like Anime-Planet (which, as far as I know, is longer around than MAL) and AniDB?

anilist when

I remember one of the devs/admins said it would be included with the link reformatting where the categories got made, why isn't anilist/etc implemented?

What's an anilist again?

"What?! You never heard of Anilist!?"

Umm.. Yeah... Hence the question.
