How is Olivia in such a bad state if in the game OG setting she's having a blast during summertime... Sure some things are taken by our MC & Mob bro, but for the main story to deviate this much is pretty crazy
because if you think about it, in the game, it wasn't her, but the player who wants to do all that stuff, so of course they are having fun and picking the option that lead to them having fun and doesn't really deal with any of the animosity.

Olivia is just an ordinary girl who want to help her family and currently is the most hated person in that whole school, imagine you get hate by the whole fucking school and it wasn't your fault

Indeed, you have a point, but I also believe that if they became involved, it could turn out like the original series, or perhaps even worse.
This already is the bad end in progress lol.

This is an interesting point and I want to see more story similar to this, where the in game MC is just controlled by the player

I'm loving how this is much more relaxed compared to the other, as well as how much darker it could actually be. It doesn't feel just as a reincarnation and being op. There's actual stakes here, something that was long gone in the original manga
I didn't realize these two mangas were related because it's been a while since I read the other one. I thought this one was a ripoff.

What's going on in that last page?
Bullying going on.

In OG story, Leon has always taken cared of all the ex of capture targets, by either exposing their evil plots or they joined his harem, because he's so cool, wealthy and stronk.

Since she is not "player controlled" and a real sentient human, that usually doesn't take to her heart such things as much because "it's just a game", she experience everything as real.

Maybe I should pick up the original story

Indeed, it's unfortunate for Livia, whose sole desire is to study and support her family, rather than contend with bullies and idiocy. However, I am curious about how the story would unfold if Leon were to thwart Marie's harem scheme and became friends with Livia.

Liking it so far.

Should I/Do I need to read the original?
It's an alternate reality based on the original (The World of Otome Games is Tough for Mobs) first three volumes, which are adapted into manga. The stories are different though:

Original timeline:
  • Harem.
  • Protagonist is a troll who pisses everyone off for fun.
  • Everything could be solved if the main characters would just FUCKING TALK about their feelings and not keep secrets.
  • More comedic tone.
  • Marie suffering is treated as a running gag.
Marie Route timeline (this)
  • Main couple instead of harem.
  • Leon actually tries to keep his head down, but Marie and his teacher keep him moving in the right direction.
  • Grim and dramatic tone.
  • Marie is essentially the protagonist.

I can't help but pity both Olivia and Ange (by extension) in this route compared to the original, because it shows how important Leon was to the general betterment of their lives, and also how they became close friends who can rely on each other.

Ange is forever trapped in the mindset that makes the Prince hate her, and she'll never receive love despite all her efforts because the Prince just isn't interested in her. So she endlessly torments Olivia for things she cannot control, under the assumption that she can control the events going on around her. She truly sinks into the "villainess" role that she was in the original game. In the process, she inadvertently causes her own downfall (and the entire kingdom as Olivia gets possessed and turns evil).

Olivia is trapped in a unwanted reverse harem where she clearly and definitely doesn't care for any of the guys, but because she's just a commoner and they're far above her in status, she has to play the "yes man" to them even if she absolutely doesn't want to. This of course, pulls in all the hatred and torment because all the other girls assume she wants this, and forget that she has no ability to refuse due to her status as a commoner. Since this isn't the game, she has the average mental fortitude of a girl of her age, that is to say, basically none and thus she gets crushed by "society" as result which allows her to get possessed and turn evil.
