In Chapter 32, it was revealed that Julius-sensei uses a potion to tame monsters:

After Washio is fired (he doesn’t contest the charges, as he's too broken by the trauma), Aria and Claudia deliberately ignore Elf-sensei during class. Later, Julius-sensei approaches him and offers the potion.

Thanks for the chapter!

Let's hope getting Washio's backstory is going to help improving the manga.

Ok I'm starting to see what's up with Washio. Whoever that girl is is probably dead.

If it's true that Drako was simply controlled by a potion or something, that's super extra laaaaaaaaaaaaame. I don't know why, but mindcontrol plots are one of the most uncomfortable for me since I was a kid, but this just ain't it bro.

Probably
The lack of autonomy is a serious thing. Lacking consent, being made a puppet, it is a terrifying concept. They are being raped, mentally though not physically, and being made to betray themselves.

Julius-sensei asks Molly (the ordinary girl from the Washio faction) to hand in some graded assignments. Later, the guy from Elf-sensei's faction who constantly harasses Claudia visits the Washio faction's dorm. Together, they discuss whether there's a way to bring Washio back. They decide to investigate the sender of the accusatory letter, and if I remember correctly, the guy harassing Claudia brings the letter with him.

Molly notices that the letter appears to be typed in the same font as the assignments Julius-sensei gave her. The Medusa girl also points out that both the letter and the assignments have the same chemical smell. Growing suspicious of Julius-sensei, they decide to search his private lab. The chapter ends with them entering the lab.

That’s basically it. I might be misremembering some details since I only "read" the chapter once.

you are telling that on chapter 32 they JUST start telling you how the teacher brainwashed the monster girls? that is god awful pacing
If this had been published on Jump it would have been axed already, it is extremely slow, funny how volume 1 only came out the 29 of January of this year, the publication started on September 28, 2023. 488 days ago.

I try not to keep up with it and then I check on it and anything barely progressed, it all feel seen before, just going through the motions, like a meal made up of things I have eaten before but they are also old.

Personally, I just find them lame and lazy, before anything else. It takes away all the responsibility from the party. It's like deus ex machina for betrayal plots - why did they do it? Doesn't matter, mind control!

I don't like the implications of that flower hitting the floor like that...1739742039528.png

On the other hand, I am 100% in agreement with the snake - JUST TALK ALREADY!!!!

Be it his refusal to teach the monster girls at first, his reluctant stance in bettering his career and now even making no attempts to defend himself against any accusation, this guy is just making things harder for himself and everyone else by remaining in silence!

This isn't Washio not feeling comfortable talking about his past, this is pathological. It's always his students and the book trial snake that have to go to unbelievable lengths to make him take a single step forward, but when anything happens he takes two back.

It's just hard to watch how much he's punishing himself over his past I wonder if it's gonna take his students being in actual danger for him to snap out of it

I agree the mind control plot is dumb and ruins Drako's character since we now have no way of knowing if her fiery attitude is a result of the mind control or just her personality. If it is part of her personality then it means the mind control potion is some very selective "control" given she seems pretty resistant despite still going along with his commands. Also the unnecessary implication that the objectively evil looking mother fucker is also molesting Drako just to add to the "this is a villain" fire. We already hated the guy for being a conniving douche, you don't need to add rapist to the trait list.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say the reason Washio isn't contesting the charges or defending himself is because he legitimately DID do something horrible/wrong and regrets it. The same reason he lets himself be demeaned by others around him calling him worthless is the same reason he accepts this punishment willingly, because he wants to be punished as a form of recompense. It isn't enough that he seemingly took in the monsters from the facility he destroyed and raised them, he likely murdered some innocent people (or rather people just doing their jobs) as well.

In fact I'll make a prediction that the girl(guy?) in the chapter preview that seems to have some significance turns out to be a researcher at the facility Washio destroys and s/he ends up dead by Washio's own hands. They'll be a mentor figure for Washio in his days following his summoning and in the Army only for Washio to have to "betray" them because he can't reconcile their involvement with the cruel treatment of the monsters and their past comradery. This is why Washio constantly beats himself up and thinks he deserves all the shit thrown his way, because he murdered a friend and still hasn't come to terms with it fully.
