I can be forgiving about bad writing as a self-published webcomic artist myself (though I have my limits), but if he has an editor, yikes.

Sometimes it's the editor causing the problems. Perhaps he suggested adding some drama/a villain to spice things up.

But bro didn't know what he was cooking and dumped the whole spice rack in the pot...

On the otherhand, IIRC listening to editor suggestions are just that, suggestions. They're not the writers after all.

I honestly feel the author hasn't read or consumed enough media to know why Julius is cringe. 😅

I'm afraid if the manga went more downhill with the upcoming chapters and the publisher decide to axe this because of its negative feedbacks, the author will throw a frickin flashbang to the readers, suddenly inserting unwanted, diabolical twist to the story like r*pe just to spit to everyone. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I think this manga would've been better off as slice of life harem romance slop. I'll give the author one thing though, that being the lack of overt in-your-face NTR crud. Probably because the antagonist is too busy being mega edgy about despair. The whole monster taming drug thing is a little close for comfort to the typical fantasy romance drama manga NTR-baiting though, and it can always get worse in the next few chapters.

Anyway, I gotta go find something actually nice to read in order to wash the taste of disappointment out of my brain. Hopefully things get better in the next chapter/s instead of worse.
