Tbf, recognizing someone from their voice through headphone is not easy. Especially, if they're using voice changer apps.

Recognizing voice wouldn't be easy, especially when you least expect it. So far, the stories that goes around are always that no one ever recognized VTuber from their voice alone, even for the one with very distinct voice. And when you look at the stories of VTuber got recognized from their voice, there are always some other circumstantial factors like, they're at a con, they're with other VTuber, etc. People were more likely to expect VTuber might be around those place and connect the dot easier. Purely in public and just from voice would be pretty difficult.

But MC who can put two and two together is really a breath of fresh air. Bless the Reiwa era!
