300 dollars! What a scam. They even commonly use lousier locks in Japan, so $300 is far too much. Not to mention you don't have to buy a whole new lock, you just have to rekey the old one. Although with the kind of locks that are still common in Japan, maybe a whole new lock is actually cheaper, haha. In any case, I had a professional locksmith install a second, brand new model higher security lock in my door, and with the lock, installation work, and one extra key included, it was still far less than 300 dollars. That dude only said $300 dollars because he needed that much to pay his irrelevant bills.
