If they're extorting to locals for resources , they're effectively just bandits who can increase their numbers quickly and efficiently.
If they need to kidnap women of other races to do so, they're even more likely to get targeted.

Basically they could only avoid being targeted if they're self-sustaining, keep their numbers small enough to not pose a threat or large enough so that trying to get rid of them without them actually provoking anyone would cause more casualties than leaving them alone or if they're very sentient and can be traded with or diplomacy works with them.

Any of those happen, they wouldn't be targeted for a majority of reasons, until human supremacists or someone who had suffered on the hands of other orcs comes along, then they're out of luck even if they had done all of them.

Sapping again with bad speeches. Also: Didn't that general just offer them being paid for not risking their lives? Of course this can't stand, because they are adventurers! And adventurers do their work not even though there is danger, but because it is dangerous! F*ck money! Then again leveling is a thing in teir world. Maybe XP is more valuable.

@Qelix It's not said outright, but it's very likely that the pay they'd get for going home when there was a fort instead of a nest would just be a "participation payment" rather than a "quest fulfilled" payout. But also yea, orcs are apparently both "weak" and a fair source of xp.

@Qelix i think orc here are low level monster even he himself might be able to solo this fort alone(maybe not look like mc's skill is focus on 1 target but im sure he'll not die that easily)
also mc really like this game ofcourse he'll rather fight them than get back half way from the fight with dragon in ch.17.2 he's quiet battle-junkie one

@HDMI1 I think FFXI. The skills and jobs are really similar to those in the game. Also the way the quest description reads.

@boogle I was thinking FFXI as well, the Orcs holed up in the abandoned fortress screamed Fort Ghelsba. I haven't played FFXIV so I wasn't sure if there was a similar setup in it.

From what I remember of FFXI, FFXIV felt pretty different. XI was a lot more like the single player games in the series from around that time I think, while XIV is more similar to your typical MMO with a Final Fantasy twist to it here and there (like the job system). They're essentially direct competition with each other due to the overlapping parts, but people would definitely have an easy time determining a preference of one over the other due to the differences that are present (as far as I can remember, given that it's been maybe a decade or more since I even tried XI, so grain of salt).
