Long sword normally doesn't need much sharpness (imagine it is a 1-2kg steel stick with edge) so u can safely half guard without hurt ur finger, just like u can half guard a kitchen knife.
It would have been better if she directs the flow to the other side instead of knock it away, and use the same flow to attack. But she's built like a tank so whatever I guess.
