It's confirmed yet but I wonder is she staying by his side because he valued her as a human being or a useful slave and she loves him for not discarding her like others.

Like the way she describes it, there were some nobles that tried to treat her (aka "spoil her") as a human being but she just seems to not want to be any of it. In some ways that would make her "not a hypocrite" because she knows where she came from. Her origins, her roots.

Believable. There were slaves who were happy being slaves

I don't think that gets acknowledged enough. Not that slavery itself was a good institution just because there were happy slaves or benevolent masters (ditto for prostitution)-- it was fueled by the subjugation of people by other people, largely through war, and the usual purpose was to gain manpower rather than at all enrich the life of the enslaved.

Nonetheless, it was an institution that ordered an entire class of people, and the whole of a given society was built-- in part-- around that institution. Various factors (not least of all that the slave is unlikely to have skills outside of what they were enslaved for) made it so that just manumitting a slave would be practically unworkable for the slave, despite the moral value inherent to manumission.

Turns out she was a slave for a long time, just trained for combat among other things. Not a fallen noble or a captured knight, or a disgraced warrior. Just a poor orphan girl from the filthy back streets, enslaved since childhood.

Unsurprisingly, she was also sexually abused as a young slave, but the way she talked about it like it was just one mundane item on a list of (to her) normal things, just goes to show how she never really had a sense of "normal" in life. She's not arrogant, she's just screwed up in the head by a screwed up upbringing.
