serious question guys. If you were in his shoes. You had someone you liked that lived in the same building as you. But this hot rich girl came up to you and be like plz marry me / go out with me / etc... What would you seriously do? given all the stuff the girl you like been doing / acting towards you? it seems to me she aint given 2 fucks about me so I'd just go with the rich girl tbh, she all all over me anyway.

Full RUBA DUB DUB, THANKS FOR THE GRUB

All he has to do is say he's not from that one family. Or did I miss something where he has to pretend he is to be in this school?

Ok, I like the script and think it is hilarious, but how close is it to the original?

@Hounder

It's a hilarious "meme" translation where you have to guess half of the dialogue whether it's translated or just a meme shoved in. "No it makes you look like a thot" and I have no fucking idea what he actually said, because of an out of character meme.

I don't read this, but I asked our team in charge and this is what they had to say:

i. The meaning of the original sentences was mostly retained. If they were rendered in a meme-sy way or whatever, it doesn't affect the content of what was said.

ii. In a couple sentences the meaning was stretched or bent a little, but in no way it affects understanding of the plot.

That being said, if anyone is irked by the tone and register of the translation, I am told the Spanish version takes no liberties at all.

Everyone is free to produce whatever sorts of translations they choose, as this isn't a professional piece for which anyone was properly compensated.

That being said, I tend to look at such things this way: If I eventually look back at all the work I put out into the world, all the material that will ultimately outlive me, will I be proud that I did justice to other artists' work by sincerely conveying their intent? Or will I cringe at what I used to think was clever or hilarious?

Every fan translator has to do what works for them, of course, but I think it's valuable to keep those questions in mind.

@kronix I think the problem is that she thinks he from some wealthy family from the same name, and if he wasn't, she wouldn't be interested. Unfortunately, he doesn't want his classmates to know this either, so if he told her this secret, it might get her away from him, but she would also expose him to everyone else.

@tuatara1 Having a meme translation and a normal one would be the ideal solution to that. Shouldn't be that hard if the memes are limited to places within the big white speech boxes or the margins.
