Sure seems like they could have tried a bit harder to make everyone realize what happened. Even if they couldn't explicitly state it, they could have made it clear that something happened to them rather than just trying to play their parts. (But that would have required smarter writing.)

And let's not forget that it is split into men and women baths, as if it were a public place while being at the end of a hidden path in a (probably) private mansion. Makes perfect sense.
