I have to admit; I only remembered due to re-reading the WN over the last month. I'm only at 2/3rds of the way through it.

Karina has the power to alter the flow of time in various parts of the base. It can go from stopping time to time going at the normal rate. The only exception is not being able to make time go faster then the normal rate.
