You know, several official comics have commanders, so why does the anime not?

@starburst98 maybe cause the commander is only facing the sirens, the anime has 3 factions, so there'd be 3 commanders, or 2 (since Iron blood is working with Sakura Empire), which doesn't represent the series. if the anime got to a point where all factions merged, then a commander would be fitting then

@JJTheWeeb uh, in game ironblood and sakura are allied with the sirens, the sirens are the commander for them. You beat them up and they join your team instead. Why would each faction have a separate commander anyway?

@starburst98 I guess technically that's true, but you still have the iron blood and Sakura with azur lane though, seeing as you can have them in your fleet. And the "commander" character is the guy watching over every shopgirl, so making him/her only command certain factions would show a sort of bias, hence the 3 commanders thing I mentioned (sirens as commanders will make that team seem worst cause the game's about defeating them, so "losing team" feels) or the we're just overthinking and they didn't want the "silent protagonist"/"faceless player" to have one
